What a cool place! We pulled into the lot and no other cars were there. There is a sign on the door to ring the bell and wait 1 to 2 minutes. So I did. The owner came by and let us into a charming place. She told us some history of the business and poured us some wine. No charge.
The wine was good and we bought some bottles for home.
Nothing like good wine and good conversation with the maker of the wine.
Would highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.
I found a interesting winery in Olathe Colorado - they gave us 6 wines to taste / several were bottles they opened for us- by one of the owners - Diane Read- I didn't take a photo of the Chardonnay - but the merlot / cab franc / cab sav blend - called their Classic Blend was very good - they have been making wines for 29 years - worth the drive
Visited the winery today and enjoyed many wines--so happy we chose not to base whether to visit on the chardonnay reviews. This winery had several wonderful, dry or semi dry wines. If you like dry or semi dry wines this is a most visit.
Need to call ahead for tasting. Was closed when we tried to go on a Saturday afternoon.
The winery had a notice up on the door that said closed by local authorities because of covid. so no wine tasting but if you called them they would show up and sell you a bottle. I don't buy wine that way at these places. I also didn't know how long it would be before someone showed up. After talking with others I found out that this is an older couple that have been trying to sell the winery. It is just too much for them. Sorry about that but I wouldn't waste my time going here until this stuff is over.
We just completed a dinner trip on the Colorado Wine Train out of Alamosa which featured this winery. In all we had 7 different wines. The Chardonnay was honestly the worst wine I have ever tasted. The only wine I really enjoyed was the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Amazing Colorado wines at a friendly family vineyard. Beautiful location. Highly recommended if you are looking to try great local wines.
