I am part owner in several BBQ restaurants in Texas and, in my opinion, Square Top's bbq is very good... reminds me of home. I actually score Square Top as a 4+. I have eaten here several times and I have been very satisfied every single time. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is because the sides were good, but could use a little more "heat," something to make them stand out... hey, but that's just my opinion. I found the staff to be friendly and responsive. The atmosphere is fine and, maybe, could reflect a little more of the ownership... some memorabilia.

Had trinity tray (various meats) and cabbage cranberry slaw. The slaw was the best. Turkey was dry. Sausage was OK. Brisket was good. Overall, I was disappointed. Only one variety of BBQ sauce.

Oh goodness!! Haven’t tasted bbq this good since going to school in Texas in the early 70’s. Bunch of us would head out of Fort Worth and drive old country rds for 60 + miles, park in a pasture and sit on tailgates drinking PBR till we were called for our table. This bbq brought back memories hadn’t thought of in years. Thank you. We will be back! Linda

Best BBQ I’ve ever had and I LOVE BBQ. Everything is great; the bbq, the amazing sides, the cocktails and the space. Eat your meal inside or on the large patio overlooking the golf course with the snow-capped mountains in the background.
Don’t miss this place!

If you’re looking for a restaurant with a great view, this one is the best in town! The food is top notch - great brisket, juicy smoked turkey, delicious sides (pimento cheese pasta salad, green chill & cheddar grits, burnt end charro beans).

Excellent Texas style smoked BBQ.
So delicious nothing needed as flavor enhancer (like sauce or even seasoning).
Quality meats slow smoked to perfection.
The sides are totally amazing and yummy.
Highly recommend!

Being from Texas, I have pretty lofty standards when it comes to BBQ, but this place passes the test with flying colors! As it turns out, the pitmaster is also from Texas, so that explains it. It also explains the menu prices, which are a touch on the high side: he has to ship oak in by the truckload from Texas (Colorado, your absolutely beautiful mountain trees that I love so much are also just about the worst thing one could ever put in a smoker. C'est la vie.) That ain't gonna be cheap. But to get brisket of this quality in this locale is worth the couple extra bucks.
Speaking of the place, I suggest going on a nice clear day when you can fully take in the mountain views from the clubhouse deck. Very nice!

The brisket is amazing but the beef ribs were truly transcendent. We were there the week of July 4 which is a busy time for the area, so we came early and also preordered the ribs since they only do them on Sundays. The sides were so unique and delicious - the pickles, the slaw, the CHARRO BEANS. Y’all I don’t usually go crazy for beans but these were made with burnt ends and could be a meal by themselves. The Mexican street corn was also a favorite. Plan to go here more than once, pick it up after a river day and take a nap after. Heaven.

Hi. I was able to sample quite a few of their offerings several weeks ago. The sides were very good. The pulled pork was excellent. But the sliced brisket took the crown. I would relish eating it any day of the week

Square Top Barbeque is hands down one of the best BBQ joints I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. From the moment you step in, you're greeted by the mouthwatering aroma of smoked meats, which sets the tone for a fantastic dining experience.
The star of the show is definitely the meat. Every cut is smoked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. The brisket was my favorite – incredibly juicy with just the right amount of smokiness. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious, and the pulled pork was perfectly seasoned.
The sides at Square Top Barbeque are equally impressive. The mac and cheese is creamy and comforting, the baked beans have a wonderful depth of flavor, and the coleslaw is fresh and crisp, providing a perfect contrast to the rich meats.
The service is friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations if you’re unsure what to try.
The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, with rustic decor that adds to the authentic BBQ experience. Whether you're dining in or taking out, the quality and taste of the food are consistently excellent.
Square Top Barbeque is a must-visit for any BBQ lover. The combination of expertly smoked meats, delicious sides, and friendly service makes this place a standout. I can’t wait to return and try more of their mouthwatering offerings!

So we had gone up at 330 because music doesn't start till 530. They were out of every single thing tonight. It's burger night completely outta burgers our service sucked? We were lucky to get a French dip with very little meat and split it. The burnt end beans had just had a couple of slivers of sausage in it no burnt ends. We were looking so forward to this meal.Would not recommend it or get there at noon.So there's actually some food

Brisket and views are 10/10
Ok y’all! When it comes to BBQ in Colorado- everyone claims they have it and that it’s “the best”; however, most don’t and have no clue why people don’t come back. In 2023, I read some positive reviews about Square Top BBQ and was a little skeptical going to a golf course to try it; however, “Hot Damn” it is the real deal - Texas BBQ. They know what they’re doing. The turkey is succulent; the brisket tender & tasty and the sausage is incredible — let’s not forget the sides (Mexican Street Corn & Beans)! I drive 45 minutes from South Fork each way for this and have never been disappointed.
Don’t worry about the golf course setting …. They have a patio with tables overlooking the course; San Juan Mountains and Forest — one of the most beautiful sceneries in Pagosa!
I am a native Texan and know Texas BBQ. This is the real deal and I encourage you to give it a try - delicious! My recommendation for first timers: order the Trinity plate to get a good sampler (brisket; sausage and turkey) with their famous potato bread … oh yeah, enjoy the homemade pickles!
