We’ve visited Slice of Life Bakery in Palisade many times as a family and have always enjoyed stopping in. However, our recent experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered a carrot cake for my son-in-law’s 40th birthday, expecting something special from a local bakery we’ve supported for years. When I picked up the cake and opened the box, I was shocked—it was very small and honestly one of the most unattractive cakes I’ve ever seen. I was surprised a professional bakery would send out something that looked so sloppy. Still, I thought maybe the flavor would make up for it. Unfortunately, it did not. The cake was dry, bland, and truly the worst carrot cake I’ve ever tasted. No one at the party enjoyed it, and I was honestly embarrassed to have served it. This was a big letdown for such an important occasion. Based on this experience, I won’t be returning or recommending their cakes to anyone.

Awful Customer Service and experience, Shame Because the Food is nice
I rarely write reviews, but after my experience at this place, I feel compelled to share. We visited this cute little breakfast pastry shop twice in two days, and both times the customer service was absolutely terrible.
On our first visit, the two young girls working the front had a blatantly rude and demeaning attitude, especially toward a woman in front of us. It was uncomfortable to witness, and then did the same to us. We were hoping it was just a fluke or a bad day for them. But nope—our second visit was even worse. The same two girls were still there, and their behavior was just as rude, cold, dismissive, and unhelpful when we tried to place a simple order. And then did it to another customer after us!!!!
It’s honestly not hard to provide decent customer service (probably plenty of young people would love this job), but these girls acted like it was a chore to even speak to us and made it very obvious. It’s frustrating because the food is actually pretty good, and this little shop has such a cool vibe. But when you’re met with such a poor attitude multiple times, it completely ruins the experience.
We have a lot of friends/family here. Instead of recommending this place, I’d now advise people to avoid it.

Great baked goods, but HORRIBLE coffee and coffee drinks. Get your coffee somewhere else, they don’t specialize in coffee drinks. I called it brown sadness water. Loved their baked goods, now THAT they do well.

Absolutely PHENOMENAL bakery in beautiful downtown Palisade! The atmosphere was great, everyone was friendly and the service was 11/10. The breakfast burrito and avocado toast were very, very good. The honey bee latte’s could not have been any better. The peach raspberry coffee cake sweet roll was amazing and the lemon lavender scone was off the charts. We wish we could have tried even more and if we are ever in the area again, this will be the first place we go.
