We visited Speedtrap every morning during our trip to Palmer Lake and loved it. Totally charming spot. Great service, good lattes and tasty food.
We really enjoyed the breakfast burrito and avocado toast. If you want a light snack, I recommend the toast with fresh strawberry jam.

A little pricey (food wise) for what you get but the quality of the service, food and beverages definitely are worth the trip! Better than the local chain coffee place!!

Fun and funky destination in Palmer Lake. Real people working there, fun local flair. Great selection of coffee drinks. It's completely out of the way for me, but I find myself taking the beautiful drive south on 105 from Denver (It's NOT the FASTEST way to get there, but it's the BEST - take a hike at Sandstone Ranch before lunch) a couple times a year.

What really brings me back, is that the food is phenomenal. Really great eats for such a weird little hole in the wall.

Kid-friendliness: I always see families there, with kids aging from toddlers to teenagers.

The Speedtrap is a delightful local restaurant off of HWY 105 between Monument and County Line Colorado. They offer a decent variety of breakfast and lunch items, that are light and tasty. It’s a great place for brunch with friends. Support local restaurants. They also have a nice outdoors section to dine. Service was great. They are attentive and courteous.

Parking: They do not have too many parking spaces in the front. You’ll have to find street parking and may have to walk a bit.

Wheelchair accessibility: It would be difficult for someone in a wheelchair to dine inside.

Visited on September 2nd with two friends (3 of us). We drove 45 minutes specifically to have breakfast here. Super cute place with a nice vibe. We were able to find an open table near the front window without waiting.

A server brought two glasses of water & four menus, which we laughed off. We asked if she could wipe the table off because it was dirty. She seemed a bit put out by this but nothing extreme. She then proceeded to squirt a cleaning fluid on the table from a bottle, which caused cleaning fluid to spray all over us. She then took our order.

It took about 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive (we ordered 2 iced teas, 1 mimosa, 1 glass of orange juice & 1 coffee) & they were brought by the barista/bartender, not the girl who took our order. We were brought 2 mimosas & no orange juice). She apologized for the extra mimosa, which we said we'd drink, & quickly brought the orange juice.

And then we waited...and waited...and waited...for over an hour. No one asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks, no one checked in to see if we needed anything or to apologize for the wait. We weren't even able to make eye contact with our server. We piled all our empty drink glasses up on the front edge of the table, hoping someone would notice they were all empty. Nothing.

At one point when our server went outside, I decided to stand up & wait for her inside the door so I could ask for refills & for her to check on our order. As she started to walk back inside, she saw me standing there & literally turned around & walked back outside. At this point we were all incredibly amused (candid camera?) & also VERY hungry. When she came inside, she asked if we needed something while also trying to scoot quickly by. I nicely stated we would like refills on our drinks & said we had been waiting for our food for over an hour, could she check in the kitchen to see how much longer it would be. She impatiently (but again, nothing major) stated that it was really busy. I looked around at the many empty tables inside (probably half) & said, "Honestly, it doesn't seem THAT busy. Like I said, we've been waiting over an hour." I was not mean/rude/snotty/impatient, just matter of fact.

She went into the kitchen, came out & looked at the tablet used for placing orders with a confused look on her face. One of my friends said, "How much do you want to bet our order never even got placed?" We all agreed that if that were the case, we would be leaving. She then came over & told us there was a 'glitch' with their ordering system & our food order was never placed. We all immediately stood up & said we were leaving. One of my friends said, "And we're not paying for any of this sh*t either," and he walked out. I did not approve of his choice of words, but they had already been said. Our server then said, "Ok, have a great F*CKING DAY!" We were in absolute shock.

We, as customers, did absolutely NOTHING wrong in this situation. We waited patiently, calmly & kindly asked for her to check on our order, were not responsible for the restaurant's supposed glitch in their ordering system (even though none of the other customers seemed to have been affected). Also keep in mind, this server had MAYBE spent a total of four minutes attending to us in the 90 minutes we were there.

We did get an apology from the barista & she admitted the language used by our server was not appropriate. However, when she said she was sorry for the wait & I said, "And the service," her answer was, "Well, you could have said something!" Um...I did.

I'm sure the food here is great, but I can't give it any stars because I never got to eat it. We drove the 45 minutes back & got Chick-fil-A very quickly with fantastic customer service.

Coffee was undrinkable. Tasted like yesterday's sludge. Service was great. Food was good. Nice, cozy atmopshere inside.

Parking: Limited; however, surrounding streets are available for parking.

Kid-friendliness: Fine for kids but has adult atmosphere.

Wheelchair accessibility: Not super accessible; however, the staff would stumble all over themselves to make a chaired person be where they want/needed to be.

This might be the best breakfast place I’ve ever eaten out. Fresh, creative, delicious.

Ignorant and unfriendly wait staff, food was terrible/overcooked, would not recommend. Sorry to the owner, who was a very nice guy.
