Had a lovely dinner at Shallots, just walked in off the street for a drink and loved the ambiance, the jazzy music, the welcoming and delightful bartender. Decided to stay for dinner at the bar and everything (cocktails, appetizers and entree) was delicious. A truly special night.
Refuses service to a Combat Veteran with a legitimate service dog. Completely disgusting way to treat our military vets! Shame on you! Spread this review Farr and wide!
Refused a disabled combat campaign veteran and his whole family service. Would not even seat them when they walked in. This is EXACTLY what the problem is here in America in 2021. They do NOT support the men and women that serve our country. The rudeness they portrayed and absolute disgusting demeaner to this disabled veterans family needing accomadation is why I will never eat here. If you are supporters of the military and our boys in blue.. I would boycott and find somewhere else to go.. Its always best to show them how americans do it and stop supporting businesses that hate americans and all we represent! Shallots needs a full revamp if their managers actually think refusing service to our countrymen is proper bc people might be offended or unsettled by our presence. Just sad.
WOW! What a delicious experience! Our experience started with perfectly crafted cocktails. Then yummy and creative shared plates. Mushrooms on polenta and a potato did were delicious and the portions were generous. We can’t wait to return to Salina to see what creative dishes the chef has in store at Shallots
I have probably walked past this place 100 times and never noticed it. In fact it isn't even on Google maps or any Salida food search results. We stopped in last weekend for our anniversary and sat at the bar for drinks and dinner. This was the best meal I have had in a long time and I haven't stopped talking about it since. Their signature cocktails were amazing, staff was super cool and the food was incredible. The valley has a lot of restaurants that are filling a spot and selling mediocre food to hungry weekend visitors. This place is not that. Best spot in the area.
I’ve really been excited to try Shallots. I really hate leaving bad reviews but I have to be honest. Unfortunately we were severely disappointed with the food and service. We arrived before the dinner rush. When we walked in the bartender looked at us but did not greet us, not even a smile. Then we waited unsure if we seat our selves or to wait for an employee. We waited for about 5 minutes. Eventually, what looked to be the owner got up from the bar and sat us and gave us some menus. About 10 minutes passed by before our server came and greeted us with water. Our server was very kind and sweet. We ordered and waited about 15 minutes and then our server offered us some bread. We then waited what felt like quite a while until are food came out. My wife’s polenta was Luke warm and rather lack luster. Her potatoes were supposed to have garlic aioli on them (the whole reason she ordered them) but they forgot to put it on and instead they had a red sauce on them that wasn’t mentioned on the menu. (She hates red sauce too.) Our server took them back and added garlic aioli but not much. My pork shank was excellent the first bite but unfortunately the next bite was ice cold and still partly frozen. Our server took the pork shank back and brought it back in what felt like another 10 minutes. I asked for the check at this point. The pork shank was warmer but still cold in spots. It’s a shame because the pork was good, the chef just obviously doesn’t use a thermometer. We even heard the people next to us complain about cold food too. When we were brought the check there wasn’t a discount offered for the cold food or anything, and we didn’t want to be rude or ask, so $75 down the drain. All in all we had high hopes for Shallots. We understand staffing is short but the ice cold food and poor service aren’t worth the hefty bill.
Long wait (it wasn’t even busy), low quality cold food, high prices, and terrible service (except for the woman who served us, she was very sweet). Half of what I ordered was good, but cold. The other half was not what the menu described it as. My husbands meal was still half frozen. I enjoyed the ambiance, the jazz music, and our server, but everything else was a disappointment. I went in with high hopes and I ended up leaving feeling like I’ve wasted a lot of time and money.
Some of the best food we’ve eaten in a very long time!! We had the swordfish and the pork shank. Tender and Delicious!!!! They do things right here!!! I would give this place a thousand stars!!
Best restaurant in salida. The maps is incorrect on the location. Good luck finding it.
Great food and great service.

We just had dinner at Shallots and what a wonderful experience. Our waiter, Robert, was friendly, polite, attentive, and concern about our enjoying ourselves. We started with the Caprese salad which was awesome and the ruby red trout was fresh and cooked perfectly.
Service was terrible.. after arriving we were waiting for about 20 minutes for having a glass of wather only. The place wasn't even busy at all!
After being seated, we were never approached by a server and waited over 15 minutes. Other people who came in after us were served and we still hadn't been acknowledged by a server. We left before we could try the food, but thanks to the person inside the restaurant that gave us a bag of free peaches!
Refuses service to disabled people/veterans and their service dog’s. Rude owners and managers who unlawfully refused a disabled combat veteran and his service dog.
They refused a combat veteran and his service animal while standing in the center of the place disgracing him his family and his legal service animal.
