Great value option for exploring Silverton and the surrounding area. Would highly recommend for your next trip to Silverton/San Juan's.
Fantastic hotel/hostel for your stay in silverton. The beds and bedding are comfy with fans included in every hostel bed. The common areas are all very comfortable and all of the staff is very helpful.
I was treated very poorly in the bar they acted like I didn’t exist
I was fortunate enough to stay at the Avon for 3 nights during a Blizzard. The experience was surreal! I stayed in the hostel style rooms and everything was just right. Beds were comfy, a personal fan was provided for each bunk, and bathrooms were clean. The Avon as a whole is cozy, quirky, and just oozes good energy out. Highly recommend!
Cool hotel with access to a commercial kitchen area and walk in fridge.
This spot is as chill as it gets, tucked in a equally laid back town in the beautiful San Juans. The Clute bros are super chill, and Ivy is a pal for life, and together they make the vibe cozy, welcoming, and perfect for a good time.

We did not have a very good experience at the Avon. We were very excited from all of the wonderful reviews we saw from previous stays and when we arrived we were very disappointed. We were told there was a full bar to use then quickly disappointed that there was not a working bar. The hotel smelt like urine and feces and then quickly realized there was lots of dog feces in the “theater.” We found that everyone we came across were not willing to talk to us, assuming owners. We thought the rooms and bathrooms were nice but did not want to spend much of our time at the Avon.

Cool, funky, charming inn with a lot of character. Full use of commercial kitchen. "Dogs encouraged"!

What a nice place!! The reviews are all spot on. The building is awesome, an old refurbished place with retro decor. They even have a retro gramophone (I think it’s actually modern, just a retro look, but who’s counting!) And I don’t know how they do it but get attract a lot of really cool, fun clientele who are great to talk to. I had a fun time meeting people. They have private rooms but I stayed in the hostel rooms that are shared. The only down side people need to know: the upper bunk beds are really difficult to get into. (Note to owners: the first step is too high for anyone under six feet and they’re spread out too far. I had you use the folding chair. Also please redo them so they’re angled. That would make them much easier to climb.) Because of the extreme difficulty I had getting my my upper bunk I’m only giving four stars on the Rooms stars. Otherwise this place is amazing!

This was one of the highlights of my Colorado Trail thru hiking trip! Amazing place to stay. Can’t talk highly enough about this place. If I could give 6 stars I would. 20/10!! Stayed both in the bunk house and two different rooms for a total of 3 nights. So hospitable, accommodating, inviting, clean, and cozy. Pat is the coolest nicest guy and my favorite employee Ivy the shop pup is just the sweetest little thing and made me feel right at home. Beds are so comfy and rooms and every bunk has a fan and ear plugs for all. Bathrooms are clean and have conditioner which was a game changer for me. The communal areas are cool with antiques and cool artifacts and have large spaces for backpackers to spread out their things. All around amazing vibe and quite an accomplishment what these two brothers have built here. Highly highly recommend staying here!

Honestly one of the best stays I've had in a hotel. I stayed there for a total of 6 days. The location in town is nice because it's tucked away just far enough traffic and people enjoying the local bars won't bother you while still being a great walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants. The staff (both cleaning and check-in) we very friendly and helpful. Ivy was awesome to see every day, she got along great with my dog. The common area/den was great and open access to the kitchen helped save money for meals. I would definitely recommend this hotel for any length of stay if you're in Silverton!
Rooms: Comfortable
Nearby activities: If you're looking for nature activities the possibilities are endless.
Walkability: Close enough to several trails that you can walk to them. Good location to shops and food.

This is one of the most unique and amazing places we have ever stayed. We loved our loft room with 2 double beds. The decor is so unique and we felt at home the entire time we were here. We were able to keep our car parked at the hotel and walk throughout town the whole afternoon. I would highly recommend this place to anyone spending the night in Silverton.

Great place to stay if you want to meet people; terrible place to stay if you want to sleep. Noise travels through the old building and people are moving around all hours. The room I stayed in was dark and smelled slightly of urine.
It is a good location, cool communal areas, and nice staff.
