We had a delicious dinner at Tahk Omakase. We had the shishito peppers, edamame and the carpaccio special to start. We tend to go with the recommendation of the server and let the chef choose - so we had the salmon belly nigiri and the California Uni. The sashimi was excellent all really tasty and well prepared and presented. We will go back.
The fish quality was good but the sushi/sashimi portions were very small. The cocktails were awful and were sent back. The sushi slices were small and very very thin for the price. Felt like robbery
Hands down our favorite restaurant in Steamboat whether eating there for happy hour, stopping in for a medicinal bowl of miso or the phenomenal experience of dining omakase with Chef Tahk!
Prices are a bit high for what you get. We did the omakase, and the chef was amazing. The owner is probably one of the most pompous and rude individuals I have ever met. I will take my money elsewhere.

Very good sushi. You can ask for basic rolls like Cali roll, which is the only sushi my kiddo likes. High quality sashimi. Very good service. Upstairs had cool seating.

Amazingly good quality not only for a mountain town but anywhere. We really appreciated the waiter's recommendations and the special salmon carpaccio was amazing. Really cool space in an historical building.
It's a great sushi place. High-quality sushi and a great selection of saki and Japanese whiskey flights. Good service and a nice ambiance. Don't be fooled by the storefront.

Great food and great service. Very comfortable surroundings. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The sushi was amazing. This was our second time here. The first was right after covid and it was great then. We will definitely eat here every time we're in town.
We celebrate special occasions with the chefs choice omakase experience. Watching these skilled pros prepare exquisite combinations of nigiri - and listening to the origin of the fish - is such a satisfying experience. And if course, delicious!
This is by far our favorite Sushi restaurant. The sushi rolls are fresh and delicious. The servers are very helpful and know the menu well. The quality is excellent. Try the citrus salmon roll. My number one pet peeve of sushi restaurants is that they substitute artificial fake crab and still call it crab. You get the real thing here. Be cautious with the chef's specials if you are on a budget. They now have happy hour specials which is nice. The ambiance downstairs is very cozy and relaxed. This is a great place for a special dinner.
My wife and I had another reliably excellent experience at Tahk Omakase last night. Our chef was Jon (I think?) who has been our omakase chef before. He is fun and knowledgeable and executed the meal perfectly. The selection of fish was diverse and appropriate to the season, and well explained by the chef as it was served. The traditional Edomae approach to salting and aging the fish shines through, with both subtle and robust elements of taste and texture. The seasoning was perfect and the rice was on point. We concluded the meal with a course of dashi tamago sashimi which was the perfectly sweet but balanced bookend to a great dinner. I would always enthusiastically recommend this restaurant to those who love good food in a relaxing atmosphere and who aren't too concerned about the number at the bottom of the bill.
