During our long weekend getaway in Vail, we were drawn back to Matsuhisa several times! Each visit, we were warmly welcomed by Elena at the bar, who truly enhanced our dining experiences with her charm, friendliness, and excellent suggestions for both food and wine pairings. We can't speak highly enough of the black cod lettuce cups and any sushi selections Elena guided us towards! Thank you for the memorable moments - already eagerly anticipating our next visit!
Everything was fine, the food was delicious, the bartender was friendly and sociable, but the hostesses were terrible. They ruin the whole face of the restaurant. They were very unwelcoming and unfriendly. They spoil the overall impression of the restaurant and leave a bad aftertaste from this restaurant.

Had lots of different dishes for the table. As always food and cocktails were excellent. Service was excellent as well. Is expensive but if you want creative fresh fish Matsu, Nobu's restaurants are the way to go. The Vail restaurant feels less intimate very densely packed and as a result noise when compared to others we have been to.

Make a reservation here for sure, however, we scored a seat at the cocktail bar and the service was absolutely top notch, thanks Dan! We had the spicy tuna with crispy rice, do not miss this as the rice and the house made soy sauce is divine. Jalapeño yellowtail on point. Followed with some snow crab sashimi, eel and cucumber, and there was a special roll with whitefish and seshito peppers which we ended up ordering a second round it was so good. Also their house special roll was scrumptious. It’s really like tapas sushi - so if you know what you like it’s really hard to go wrong here. Great view of the slopes and if you know what to order you’ll be in heaven. Make a reservation or wing it at the bar, you won’t be disappointed.

I wavered on whether this is 4 or 5 stars. Needless to say when had a great meal. Eating at the sushi bar is always fun because of the interaction with the sushi chefs. And that's what we did. We went with our regular favorites and added a few exotics of which one was a raw oyster with uni and some other fun stuff. This was an "off menu" favor that the chef did for us. We drank a more than average amount of cold unfiltered sake and in the end our bar bill was a little more than the food. Not unusual for us. We'll be back.

Not like the quaint location in West LA, but they do it so right and consistently. Just fantastic start to finish and impressive for such a large restaurant. I do wish they could do a better job with the reservations as it’s almost impossible to get in. It’s very good but it is somewhat guilty of attitude to the point of being annoying.

We had a wonderful evening. We make sure we eat here every year when we come for skiing. The food is excellent, the ambiance and the energy here is amazing and so much fun!!!! Our waiter was super nice and polite and the bus boys( & ladies) were attentive and made sure our table was always clean. The whole crew worked really nicely together. I totally recommend this place for a fun, elegant might out?

Great experience overall. Can tell it is exceptionally well run and very professional. Service quality was top notch, staff definitely did not consist of minimally trained ski bums like you see in some restaurants. And food quality was amazing too. Definitely not inexpensive, but considering the prime location in one of the most expensive ski towns anywhere, I thought it was actually a pretty good value overall.
