We were visiting Vail on a Monday in early March and ate lunch here. It was in a good location. The restaurant had indoor and outdoor dining. We chose to eat outside since it was good weather & has a nice view of the ski slopes. It got chilly when it became cloudy & the restaurant doesn’t have heaters. The food was expensive and portions were small. The service was okay.

We came to have lunch after skiing and had to wait to see the hostess, nobody was there at the hostess stand. Twice the hostess came to me and said they will be with me in a minute, after about 10 minutes they finally came and I was able to ask for a table for 2 for lunch and drinks. They said to wait again, while there were about 3-4 empty tables available. After another 5 minutes of waiting, another waiter came and said to wait for the hostess to be seated… we said there are empty tables can we wait there, they said no… after about 15 minutes of waiting we left… quite a disappointing experience

Had a great lunch here. Brisket nachos were awesome. They had live music and the duo playing was really good. Pretty view at the bottom of the gondola. Would def go back.

I'm not super happy with this restaurant. I mean, it's nice and easy to stop into while skiing but the food just simply wasn't that good. I got the bucatini pomodoro and it was alright. The pasta was actually good quality but the sauce was just tomato soup. Like it was literally pasta in tomato soup. Anyway our waiter was very friendly and the live music was nice.

Many policies in place at this restaurant that prohibit customer enjoyment. One policy is joining groups together. One policy is placing a bag on an empty chair next to you. Another policy is how checks are split. I would inform yourself on all the policies before you step into this place and have a three star food experience. Manager isn’t helpful, don’t bother. Our server was very attentive though and food came out hot.

The place is an echo chamber. The middle of the restaurant is concrete floor ceilings and walls. They sat us there with a reservation - even though the quieter part of the restaurant had dozens of tables - afterall Vail is not flush with patrons right now. Then they sat a group of 25 men at high tops next to us. You could not hear yourself think. The Tavern is LOUD and NOISY. The average food and great service do not make up for going deaf over dinner! Don't go!
