I stepped off the slopes into the restaurant as a solo diner at about 1 PM hoping to get a quick bite. There was no one at the front host stand so I stood there in front of the “Wait to be Seated” sign and waited patiently. Looking around, I was passed by two servers who didn’t make eye contact and walked past me. Then I noticed a woman with dark hair sitting at the table in the nook to the right of the host stand sitting in front of a laptop on her phone. She made eye contact and looked away, so I assumed she was a customer. There was a tall, older man in an orange sweater and jeans was standing at the bar socializing with customers whom I assumed was also a customer. Then as I stood there for what was now well over five minutes, he turned around, looked at me (in my purple ski suit—hard to miss), walked right past me, went to the woman sitting in front of her laptop in the corner, said something to her, walked past me again back to the bar and continued to socialize. At this point, I was about to walk to the bar to ask if anybody was going to seat me when a man brought a couple of other guests in from the outside and took them to the bar to seat them. This turned out to be the bartender. So I walked over to him and said that I had been waiting there for over five minutes and was ignored and asked if I should just seat myself or leave. He seemed shocked, and kindly invited me to join at the bar, while the customers who were talking to the clueless manager nodded in agreement that I had indeed been waiting a long time. I declined and sat myself at the bench in the window to warm up in the sun. That’s when one of the two servers who had walked past me previously finally came over and explained to me that she was not the hostess, but it was that woman sitting in the corner on her laptop, who saw but completely ignored me the entire time I was standing there.

I ordered my lunch, ate, and left. At no point did the manager or anyone come apologize to me or offer any explanation for why I was ignored for nearly 10 minutes. It was hard not to feel that it was discriminatory, as a previous reviewer felt.

I will be sure never to go back if this is how they treat guests. I’m disgusted with the hostess for ignoring me while chatting on her phone, but even more disgusted with the manager, who had no problem with the fact that she was not doing her job and couldn’t be bothered to seat or even acknowledge me himself. Vail has way too many other options for this kind of epic failure to happen. Shame on that hostess and that manager, really—it was disgraceful.

Fantastic meal and great, festive atmosphere. We've been coming here for years and quality of food is better than ever. Can't wait to come back next year!

Made the reservation online, stated it was our 36th anniversary. Never came up, I mentioned it to the waitress. Never came up.
Slow to get initial service. Once the wine was ordered, dinner came quickly and was excellent! Then 20-30 minutes, no service, we were there about 90 minutes before I had to ask twice for the check, and never even saw a dessert menu.

Food was tremendously mediocre and expensive. Nothing bad just not worth the expense and you are paying for the location not the food.

Bread service ($12) was pretty good and came with a jam, oil for dipping and butter. The side caesar salad was also good. My husband ordered steak that was undercooked, but he still enjoyed it. Unfortunately the chicken was flavorless and overcooked. You could see where they even cut into it in three places to make sure it was cooked. My son ordered mac and cheese, which was mushy and overcooked. For how much our meal cost, I was super unimpressed.

We had the Ribeye with the Oscar topping. Great experience! Pablo was our waiter and made great suggestions. We made reservations so they put us in a great corner seat.

Service was terrible- we all finished our drinks and water - sat there for 15 minutes before waitress came back. Never asked how food was and never asked if we wanted dessert. She did ask me 4 times if I was done with the bread that we paid for BEFORE the meal ever arrived.

Great spot for dinner at the base of Eagle Bahn gondola. We ordered an appetizer dinner. Reservations are a must.

My entire family tried to dine at this restaurant. Despite many tables being visibly available and live music ongoing, the hostess refused us entry, claiming the restaurant was full. No waiting time or courteous explanation was provided. The situation felt discriminatory and unprofessional.

The food was way over priced The waitress was rude, didn't seem to want to be there. Not a great value, overall experience go somewhere else.

Staff was excellent and manager gave us military discount. We are from the Boston area and ordered their Beet salad, 2 Lobster Macs, & Lambchops and it was enough for the 4 of us. The Lobster Mac is as good as any we've had back in New England!

This place is okay (good outside views of the slopes) but it was incredibly pricey for somewhat mediocre food and kind of informal atmosphere. I’d probably recommend other places if you’re looking to splurge on a Vail date night.

Vail Chophouse has a classic mountain-steakhouse atmosphere--warm, lively, and perfect for warming up after a day on the mountain.

The service is friendly and was attentive initially but slowed when it came time to box up leftovers and leave, we waited a while for the check.

The food we had was solid and satisfying. We were craving soup and the French Onion Soup hit the spot! It was so much more flavorful than the Slow Cooked Pork Shank, which was good, just bland for my taste and I typically think a lot of food we eat is over-seasoned.

The manhattan cocktail was well made, especially if you enjoy something strong and straightforward. Portions are on the larger side, which was good since it is on the pricier end as expected for the location and the resort atmosphere.
