Delicious food and friendly service. I have been craving Japanese curry, and they did not disappoint. The hot plum sake is a must! I don't eat sushi, but the happy look on my husband's face let me know the sushi was great, too. This tasted just like the katsu curry I had in Kyoto, and it made my day!
Great food, good service but uncomfortably warm in the restaurant.
Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, and friendly staff. They had a couple of vegetarian ramen options and the Tan Tan ramen was so tasty. I’d definitely come back here again!
I went here with my wife and a friend last week. The whole experience was mediocre at best. The service was pitiful, and the sushi rolls were poorly constructed. I do not plan on returning.
We’ve been coming to Sakana for years, drawn in by its warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and truly authentic sushi at a very reasonable price. It’s always felt like a hidden gem in our neighborhood and we’ve recommended it to friends and neighbors time and again.
We were sorry to learn that the original owner has retired, and we unfortunately realized this due to the changed flavor during our recent visit. The sushi rice seemed drier than before and just a touch stale—rice being the foundation of every sushi and roll means getting the rice right really makes all the difference. We also found the ramen pork to be cut a bit too thick without much flavor (perhaps it's a different part?), which felt less balanced than we’ve come to expect from a great Japanese ramen.
More than anything, we love this place and want to keep coming back. If the new management is looking to retain longtime regulars (and win over new ones), we’d suggest starting with a warm welcome & notify them of the recent transition, and maybe asking for feedback right after the meal. A little extra attention goes a long way in showing you value our loyalty and want to perfect the menu we all fell in love with.
A good place mostly for the fresh Sushi.

Exceptional sushi, everything else is very good also. Needs a larger space and better location.

Sakana used to be our go to place when we crave for good quality ramen; and we had good luck with our visits. But not today (11/13.) We ordered fried oyster, fried chicken and two ramens. And when we got home both of use has to rush to the bathroom because of diarrhea from the food. We suspect it was the oyster did us in. The ramen was served lukewarm (we expected to be much warmer,) with stiff, flavorless pork loins. The spicy miso ramen tasted like with some packed condiment straight out of the packet. And the soup/broth as blunt something like out of broth box. All the flavorful broth of traditional ramen was non-existent. With the questionable sanitary of the food and blunt ramen broth, It has gong downhill. Very disappointed visit.

We are fortunate to live down the street from Sakana so we eat here regularly. The fish is always high quality, better than most sushi places. The katsu don and curry are our favorites. The restaurant looks unassuming from outside but is charming and cozy with consistently wonderful service.

The kaibashira nigiri was so good. The salmon, tuna nigiri were also excellent. The takoyaki was good and included more octopus than other places that serve this. I was not a fan of the curry ramen, because I wanted more curry flavor and aroma. The chicken was overcooked though. I'll try the curry rice next time I'm in town.
Service was great. Mauro was thorough and patient!

Server was awesome, great food tried a lot of different items and it’s pretty hard to go wrong. Some awesome sake options
Lovely place for a special night, or quick bite to grab. They go hard on the sushi! Great stuff.

Although part of me doesn't want to let the cat out of the bag and share this secret spot, I also feel compelled to sing its praises. With fresh, tasty food, attentive and comfortable service, a relaxing atmosphere, and surprisingly reasonable prices, Sakana delivers some of the best Japanese cuisine in Westminster and the greater area. If you're a fan of Japanese fare, from miso soup, sushi, ramen, katsu, teriyaki, and more, Sakana is a MUST-try!
Parking: Easy and free of charge small lot.

Always enjoy coming here! Love how simply delicious the Saba Shioyaki (grilled mackerel) is. The Agedashi tofu is a favorite too. Load up the spoon with a lot of broth, some tofu and radish and slurp it all up.
