My husband and I have been dining here for the last couple of years and every time we are blown away by how delicious and consistent the food is! The service is top notch and the staff are always friendly. Recommend the shumai and salad as starters, also all of the sushi rolls are good quality fish. We have tried all of the ramens and have enjoyed each one- great flavor and authentic. Hands down one of the best restaurants in Denver.

What a fantastic hidden gem we stumbled upon! Fresh sushi, cute atmosphere and awesome service! Highly recommend this place, we will be back. The tuna nigiri and rainbow roll were out of this world.

Quality ramen for a really great price (most places over price the ramen). The sushi is pretty fresh and the cuts on the nigiri are large. They just expanded the restaurant so there is plenty of seating now. Service is always great. I'm always greeted on the way in and out.

Went here for my birthday There was a little bit of a wait but nothing crazy. It actually went a lot quicker than I thought. The decor and quality of the sushi is what really brings this place together. It's very minimalistic, plant oriented, clean and modern. I absolutely loved the vibes. We got spicy miso ramen, a roll that had eel on the top and a vegetarian roll. We also got green tea mochi ice cream for dessert. 4/5 stars because the service was pretty meh. I was excited to be there on my birthday but the server kept rolling her eyes every-time she walked to our table. Kinda ruined the vibe a bit. I'm not sure if she just assumed we wouldn't tip or what. Speaking as a past server, never assume someone may not have the means for a nice tip. I'll need to try again to see how the service is.

After living in Tokyo for 5 years, I was craving some authentic Japanese food. Not just sushi and ramen.Takoyaki- incredible, crispy and great flavorKatsudon- soggy and bland so I added teriyaki sauce which soaked right through to the rice but it did come with shibazuke pickles which was very much appreciated.Plum wine- never had such syrupy umeshu

Some of the best sushi I have had in a long time! The yellowtail carpaccio was absolutely amazing. Great service. And I love when a restaurant plays ambient music, instead of pop.

We had our anniversary dinner at Sakana and we were absolutely blown away! We wanted to try a new Ramen place, and my fiance found Sakana. There was a tiny wait, but that wasn't a problem! We got Shoyu Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen, Takoyaki, 3 sushi rolls, a bottle of Sake, and one beer and it was VERY reasonably priced for all of that food! And it was ALL delicious! The service was fantastic as well! We wanted some mochi, but were stuffed and our server offered to keep it in their freezer until we left! He must have seen us getting ready to leave, because he was ready to hand it to us immediately! And come to find out that we weren't charged for it either! It was such a good experience and we will return!

So as someone whos spoiled with authentic japanese food from my side of the ocean, my review of sakana sushi options:Not alot of options looks and seeing how it appears to be a small mom n pop style place it justifies it.Karrage chicken: not cooked in the traditional sense that karrage is supposed to be but its cooked in a different style and seasoned well6/ 10Agedashi tofu: broth was refreshingly light, the dashi was not up in your face making taste almost like miso 7/ 10Spider roll: made the mistake of NOT ordering it as temaki, but nothing special to say 6/ 10Unagi nigiri: again nothing spectacular but was odd to see it only served as singles and not in pairs 6/ 10Tamago nigiri: DECEPTIVELY DELICIOUS ? Normally just seasoned scrambled eggs with sugar, not in this place! The tamago taste like a ice cream dessert, its so creamy 9/ 10Wish i tried their ramen but not bad for a treat out for tonight

Just got a carry out order from Sakana and it's my first time coming here. From the moment I hung up the phone I told my fiancé how great of customer service the host had! I feel like people are so cold these days and this guy was so friendly on the phone and in person, genuine! Everyone welcomed me when I walked in and thanked me when I left, all around great customer service today! The sushi was amazing too! I look forward to returning

From the moment my party and I arrived at Sakana, nestled in a humble strip mall, we were pleasantly surprised by the swift seating. The restaurant, a contrast to its unassuming exterior, welcomed us with tastefully done decor, setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience. Our culinary journey at Sakana was nothing short of delightful. We started with tantalizing appetizers - the takoyaki was cooked to perfection, the karaage offered the right balance of crisp and tenderness, and the edamame was a fresh, light start. Each dish was served promptly and in a well-considered sequence, enhancing the overall dining rhythm. The main courses were a testament to Sakana's culinary prowess. The nigiri selection was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, capturing the essence of traditional sushi. The curry ramen and spicy miso ramen were both rich in flavor, each slurp a warm embrace of exquisite taste. The pork katsudon, a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, was the cherry on top of our gastronomic adventure. Service at Sakana deserves a special mention. Our server was the epitome of professionalism - courteous, attentive, and efficient, reminiscent of the pre-pandemic dining service standards that we all miss. They ensured our experience was smooth and enjoyable, making us feel genuinely cared for. In conclusion, Sakana is a high-quality local restaurant that brilliantly marries great service with exceptional food. It's a shining example of how a place can overcome its modest location to deliver an experience that rivals any upscale dining establishment. I eagerly anticipate my next visit, ready to explore more of what Sakana has to offer. A visit here is highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Japanese cuisine served with a touch of heart.
