Best tacos around especially the chicken ones

I love this place.. when they are open. Tried to grab dinner a few weeks back around 5:30p and the kitchen was already closed, only offering ice cream. They closed an hour early today as well. Inconsistent hours make it difficult for me to choose this establishment. I recommend always calling ahead, which is inconvenient but worth it to not waste a trip.

I just love the Ashford Dairy Bar in Connecticut. The service is always prompt and the staff always have a warm and welcoming smile. We aren't from the Northeast corner, however, when we're visiting J.N. Webster Scout Reservation, we always find time for the dairy bar. The ice cream and the fish and chips are delicious and leave a lasting impression. So, if you're ever on Route 44 in Ashford, CT, check out this wonderful establishment.

This place has changed quite a bit since coming under new ownership. Ordered two cheese burgers and fries. The burgers were just ok, on the bland side and the cheese was practically non existent! Where's the cheese???!!!!
I gotta say the fries were excellent!!
Their prices are definitely on the high side, $30 for 2 cheeseburgers 2 fries and two cans of coke!! I could of went to a restaurant for that price. Lol!!
Now for the ice cream, we got two small soft serve cones which were very good in size and quality but they were already melting when they were handed to us!
And it wasn't a hot day 70 degrees out.
I've been going here for many many years, but this was my first time since new ownership. Sad to see how a once great place to go can change so much for the worse.
Also it was once an extremely busy place,we stopped in at 6pm on a Friday evening and there were only 2 other customers and a couple more showed up when we were leaving. Unfortunately two of those customers looked at the menu and left. Must be the prices.

Burritos are soooo good! Pictures don’t do it justice. The homemade hot sauce is great too. They usually have a red and green. Fresh ingredients. Never thought Ashford would have THE spot for burritos. If they come up with a horchata milkshake, I’d be in trouble haha

Ashford Dairy is a great little place. Just got an order today of chicken tacos and steak tacos. It was a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it. Vale la pena! These are not Taco Bell style gringo tacos. They are well filled with meat onions and cilantro. Price is reasonable, food was great.

You can tell this local dairy bar is under new ownership. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. My family went the other night. Fish sandwich (loved by my husband ). Daughter in law had a delicious cheeseburger. My son and I were looking forward to a good foot long hot dog, and they delivered! Ice cream was excellent too! Can’t wait to go back.

All in all a decent roadside dairy bar that I’ve stopped at a few times on my way back and forth from CT to RI. The food isn’t bad and it comes out in a reasonable amount of time if you get there before or after the lunch crowd, but you can say that about any place that sells food. Took about 10-15 minutes to get my food with five folks ahead of me in the order.

We loved our ice cream. Young man who seemed to be doing it all was so nice and patient with my kids. Plenty of places to park and sit when we came.
