The breakfast is delicious! I don’t ever have to season it. Great service, friendly, and cozy environment. Just had the fish and chips and picked up through the drive thru although you can make a reservation. Amazing! Best around.
Great little place. Good food and nice country decor.

2 for take out service attitude.
I spend nearly $15 for two breakfast sandwiches and the lady never says thank you at the take out window.
Food is decent but I'm not sure what that lady's problem is, she is always miserable and comes across very unlikeable at the window and as if she is being bothered.
She may be the owner but it makes me want to spend not one more dime there.

First time going for breakfast. Food was excellent..hats off to the cook! However I dont think ive had a worse waitress! She may have been owner as she had an English accent. She did not welcome us..crack one smile...check if our meals were ok.. nothing! Its a hell of a way to run a business if you want return customers.

9.8.24 This is our 2nd visit here and although the food is really good (this time we had the carnivor omelet and the raspberry, cream cheese french toast), the service was slow again, we had to ask for coffee refills a couple of times, and the waitress never checked back after she brought us our breakfast. We used a credit card, so No, it's not a cash only venue.

I'm only writing this review so others have a fair warning. Although the workers and the male owner are super nice and great people, I unfortunately won't be back because of the female owner. I can put aside that she can be very cold and rude, but the fact that I've caught her automatically applying a tip to my bill multiple times and she recently overcharged me multiple dollars for a simple egg and cheese sandwich is really unacceptable. Again, the male owner is incredibly nice and sweet, but I won't be returning because of the female owner. I wish him and the other workers my best.

Lovely little restaurant located on Route 44 in Ashford. The food is super as is the service. They took great care in setting up the restaurant for COVID with the reorganization of the tables and booths. They have kept the booth separation barriers up for continued COVID protection.

I just moved to the area and took my mom and brother here for breakfast on their visit . I ordered the homemade hash and it was amazing! Many breakfast options and great service. Will definitely be back.

Food is good enough, but the service is painfully slow. You don't get a lot for what you pay for - small portions.

I went to brunch with a friend and, unfortunately, I paid attention to a review which recommended the eggs Benedict. Maybe there was a different cook on the day we were there, but the eggs were overcooked, the hollandaise was bland, and the corned beef was overcooked and dry (even with the hollandaise on top of it - it might have been reheated a few times). There was nothing about this $15 dish that made me want to return to this restaurant. My friend's food was not very good either, and we agreed that this was not a place to which we would return. I did not complain and return the plate because I didn't want to disturb the other folks in the restaurant. Nevertheless, I do not recommend the Wooden Spoon.

Decided to try this place for breakfast takeout. First off we tried calling several times with no answer. My fiancé ended up going inside to order, and the woman who took our order was extremely rude. When we did get our order, we weren’t given any utensils. I had to go back in and was scoffed at by this woman for asking for utensils….i get it if your having a bad day. But when you work in the service industry….and least pretend to like your job or be nice to the customers….unfortunate because the food was amazing but we won’t be coming back.

Just left out breakfast. This was our last meal in CT before heading back, and it was the perfect ending. Had the raspberry french toast and the homemade hash. Both were delicious, and the service was excellent!
Kid-friendliness: Service was kind to the kinds and there were plenty of other kids here
