August 2025 Update: I went again recently to see if there’s been any improvement. Largely not much has changed, but the Ramen has improved. I am however keeping it to 3-stars because the ordering kiosk is still annoying to use, and I paid the extra $1.50 total for tapioca pearls of two identical drinks and didn’t realize they didn’t put tapioca pearls until I was already at home. It’s no longer a good service if I have to be responsible to remind employees for something that they didn’t even put into my drink. I paid extra for that.
As for ordering speed, time has improved. What used to take 7-10 mins is now completed in 3 when ordering two identical drinks. (Its probably faster because they forgot the tapioca pearls I paid extra for).
Old review:
Before this place opened up, my nearest whale tea was located in New Haven. With that said, my expectations is based on that location. In addition, I’ve lived across the entire east coast and have already tried more than 25 different bubble tea spots and probably more than 50 different ones of the same franchise. I will also be using those experiences as a baseline.
Unlike the New Haven location, this particular one offers Ramen. The Ramen… is okay. Mine was a little lukewarm, and the ingredients were on the chewier side. I went there on its grand opening week, so it’s hard to see if it improved since I haven’t ordered since.
They have a moderate variety of Bubble teas and plenty of customization. My recommendation used to be the Taro, but for some reason the drinks are fairly inconsistent. Sometimes get all ingredients with the creamy cake/custard like texture, and sometimes its just milk.
My biggest frustration is how clunky the automated teller is. It uses an unreliable vendor called Chowbus to process transactions. NO TWO WHALE TEA LOCATIONS INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER ON THE APP. So I can’t even accumulate points for both areas. I even tried redeeming points and even created an account. Personally, I’d say get rid of it. The fact that I can’t check out on those machines without providing a phone number is just infuriating. Yes I’m aware that you can order from the front with an employee, but often times the employee is occupied with working on an order.
As for proportions, do not bother with getting a large drink. You’re not going to notice a big difference with small and large and there is an additional charge if you want less ice. Its +$1 to make it a large. You’re not going to miss out.
Fix the app problem and make it similar to Kung Fu Tea. 3 stars just because of the app and the machine.

Whale Tea in Avon is a hidden gem! The crème brûlée bubble tea is rich and creamy—like dessert in a cup. Their ramen is flavorful and the m dumplings are melt-in-your-mouth good. The space is cozy and peaceful, and service is always friendly. A perfect spot for a relaxing meal or a sweet tea treat!
Good food, friendly staff.
I hate ramens with very salty soup. Their ramens are not salty, hence the 5 stars
Love their boba, though their customer service could be wayyyy better!! Also their food isn’t anything crazy. Ramen was mediocre.
Expect to pay full price even if they forget something or if one of the ingredients included as advertised isn't ready or is out of stock 🫶🏻
I have ordered from here every weekend for over a year. I LOVED this place. Recently, they changed the broth for the Vegetarian Ramen. Have to say I’m kinda disappointed. What once was a light creamy coconut milk broth (the kind you can’t help but drink after) has turned into a darker broth that’s a bit too salty now and tastes just like soy sauce. Sadly, I don’t think I will be ordering again anytime soon. ☹️
The ramen is super good. And they come fast. The environment is clean and spacious. The staffs are friendly.
Great food and I love the large selection of boba!
I was at whole foods so figured id give this tea a try. I ordered the classic. Now, I am no snob but i was not a fan. I didnt even finish it.

Excellent boba. The fruit teas are good and have a very good tea taste not just a sweet fruit juice. Food options include some unique items and everything we tried was good
We ordered the chicken and pork ramen and black tea boba for dine-in. The boba tea came in first and it was AMAZING, honestly delicious so I had high hopes for the ramen. When we got the ramen orders mine was absolutely disgusting. The bamboo was limp and sour and the noodles were a clump in the bottom of the bowl. The broth was sour and honestly smelled like sewage. I tried to eat the noodles and sea weed as I spent $15 on this and am a broke college student but I am now currently sick and am working hard to not throw my guys up all over the side of the road on my way back home. My partner got the pork ramen and it was okay but still had clumpy noodles and sour limp bamboo. At least the broth wasn’t too bad.
I might’ve given it a two star review for the boba if the ramen didn’t make me physically sick after eating some. I’m actually upset that I didn’t ask for my money back.
Great staff and great food 🥘 🍱 🍲 with a verity of boba to have
Staff are quick and friendly. Drinks are meh; pretty good, but it's almost 10$ for a 12oz w boba pearls. The food leaves a bit to be desired as well. Most dishes are between overseasoned or underseasoned, the ramen especially. The desserts are pretty good though.
The best boba in the area. Reminds me of the boba in East Los Angeles / San Gabriel valley. The ramen is also good. You can order using a touchscreen kiosk. There’s also a good Poke place next door
