Lovely environment, warm, welcoming, knowledgeable staff, and beautifully prepared innovative Mexican food. The generous portions of sopa Azteca, duck tacos, and especially, the flan were great. We'll certainly be back!

Upscale Mexican cuisine and fine dining experience without the high prices! The restaurant's atmosphere is modern with a simple/clean decor. The food was authentic and top notch compared to other Mexican food I've tasted. I plan to visit again to try more items on the menu.

Vegetarian options: I had the vegetable burrito, which was great!

Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp for wheelchair access

I have discovered a Mexican restaurant gem hidden in the Hills of Litchfield! La Cantina in Bantam, CT, has everything going for it: great food, great ambience, great staff, and great owners. I had a Manhattan and the Baja tacos, and I have finally found my Mexican food home! Try it out and thank me later.

We had reservations but when we entered were ignored had to flag someone down.. The atmosphere okay the Catrinas pictures and statues all over the restaurant is a bit overkill. The food selection okay bu can't underestand why the menu has asian dishes as well. $14.00 for a few tortilla chips and a meager side of salsa and guacamole was laughable. Drinks and beer prices very steep. The food, quesadilla looked anemic and weren't toasted, they were white in color.. my friend said they tasted ok. My salmon I have to say was very tasty.., my husbands soup was luke warm All in all I find the restaurant too pricey for what it is Mexican food is not supose to be expensive..I thinks they are targeting the area perhaps but Bantam is not a destinaltion in my eyes or opinion.. All in all way too expensive so we will not return or recommend

I’m giving this a rating of two because we ordered chips and salsa and received an outrageous bill of $14! That’s just ridiculous. The portions of food were adequate and nothing impressive for the cost of the food. Drinks were good. This is like a glorified expensive Chipotle! Not worth the $$$!

La Catrina is such a welcome addition to the local dining scene. We have been here three times now and have enjoyed every time. The margaritas are superb, the food delicious and the decor is a feast for your eyes. Definitely come for dinner and enjoy a wonderful dinner and night!

We had a very nice a tasty dinner in a Saturday night at La Catrina. The menus is a combination of Mexican comfort food like tacos and fajitas and more elaborate dishes including some very good moles. Drinks are creative and sometimes potent - beware of the jalapeño margarita. They were a bit understaffed that night (they are hiring and it is hard to get help, people) but our server was super sweet and with just a little patience we all had a very nice time.

Having said all this, it is very disappointing to see how rude and thoughtless some people are with their online reviews. This restaurant has been in business for literally 3 weeks (September was friends/family soft opening) and obviously some aspects are still a work in progress, but it is quality and welcome addition to the Litchfield dining scene. So to these people on their high horses carelessly dispensing one and two star reviews, please try to be a bit more balanced and supportive of our community.

Ordered takeout as a try for this place. It was excellent. Delicious food that held up well on the trip home. I look forward to experiencing the restaurant.

Food and drinks were very good. Queso Fundido con Chorizo was tasty but greasy so be careful of drippings. Pastor Tacos and Carne Asada Rice Bowl were both excellent.

We had no reservations so we were seated outside. The only small issue I had was the yellow two person tables were tiny. Maybe square instead of circle would be better. Staff were very good, quick service with drinks and food.

Parking: Parking may appear full but go through lot and more parking along street on left as you exit. Remember it’s one way.

Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp into restaurant
