EVERYTIME we have been to Material it has been perfection from beginning to end of each meal. Food, service and cocktails/wine all incredible.
In a small town (Bantam) in CT, you will find one of the best Italian restaurants in the Northeast. The food is fantastic, (try the pasta will claims and anchovies). Waiters are very knowledgable. And for a restaurant open for only a few years it offers a very impressive Italian wine list.

Wonderful dinner at Materia in Litchfield near Bantam. The Sunday night special lasagna is perfection. The tiramisu equally thrilling. All presentation of food is also high artistry. A true treat!

Incredibile, incredibile, incredibile! Materia is now the best experience I have ever had. Food is unbelievable. The service is top notch. Chris is the best. We ask for him every visit. Atmosphere is beautiful, quiet, and inviting. The wine offerings are extensive. Great spirits as well. I highly recommend a visit.

What a phenomenal experience. Chef tasting menu was out of this world, unique, perfect. Wait staff was amazing. They had a great balance of checking in and keeping their distance. The restaurant was full but did not feel crowded at all. I highly recommend for anyone who wants a fine dining experience.

Probably the best restaurant in Litchfield County. The food is very refined, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is nearly perfect.

This was our first time at the restaurant. It’s a warm atmosphere and everyone who works there is very friendly and detail oriented which is great. We enjoyed the dinner including the beets, lobster tail and clam linguini to share as starters, all good! And then the porterhouse for 2 had a lot of flavor but it was not medium like we asked, it had solid red in the middle. We didn’t complain however. For dessert we had the tiramisu. This could have been the savior but it had crunchy lady fingers in the middle, it lacked that espresso flavor so it was like they were never soaked. I do have to give a big kudos to Orlando who runs the bar, he was fantastic and came up with some really great drinks to try. I think we’ll give it another go at some point.

Stunning location with a water fountain and walkable trail (well-lit in the evening) surrounding the restaurant. Jessica did a phenomenal job introducing us to the menu and coursing the dishes we ordered appropriately — even though they technically close at 8 on Sunday, there was never any sense of rush and we enjoyed our full courses until 9:30 or so. Great wine selections as well. The stand out item for me was the chef’s lasagna with a spinach pasta and béchamel — apparently only served on Sunday. Every course was delicious and plated artistically. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere within driving distance!

If a needed one word to describe our experience. AMAZING! The restaurant is beautiful. The staff were warm and welcoming. We had the chilled lobster , crustacean bisque, lobster fra Diablo pasta , squid ink pasta with uni , vanilla pan-a cotta and chocolate semifreddo . What an experience. Plotting when I can return.

Excellent cooking - Orata was crispy and moist, lobster caprese was a fantastic blend of flavors with multiple large chunks of lobster meat. Good wine program (italian only). For your best chance at a great meal, I strongly recommend Materia.
