We visiting Community Shellfish for the first time recently and I’m so glad we did! Our usual seafood spot is Fairfield Farmers Market, so finding a place we can visit more frequently is great. Everything was fresh and the staff were friendly and helpful! Highly recommend!
Enjoyed amazingly fresh Oysters and Sturgeon Caviar for our anniversary and it was absolutely delicious!!! Will definitely go back for more!
Cold lobster roll are delicious and fresh!!! Clam chowder was so freshly made and well balanced!!!! So grateful!!
Super clean, super friendly and knowledgeable, very fresh food, could not recommend more!
The name says it all! ?
The incredibly fresh seafood is just the tip of the iceberg. Love and dedication is felt in everything here - from the community atmosphere in the shop, to the delicious food, to any interaction with the lovely owners. Truly a gem!
Must try this place !! One of the best lobster rolls I ever had. Everything there is so fresh and the service is second to none.
The best place HANDS DOWN; right up there with the Cape to the coast of Maine. Welcome back childhood❤️?❤️
Quick review: This place is selling some of the freshest high quality seafood you can get in the entire state maybe region. Even seafood you get right off the dock is not this good is not always handled properly
On the boat or the water they get it from is not as clean. This place does everything right and they’re sourcing it from people who do it right.

I got dragged here by my dad and he got a recommendation from someone and he was excited to try and I was not expecting much as his last tip was a disaster.
I am half Japanese and an avid fisherman and home cook. Love eating fresh fish as much as possible but there are very few places in Connecticut that I will actually buy fish from and even those top places I will only buy fish if there fish is super fresh. You can tell by the texture color, sheen, smell (yes I’ve asked my local fishmonger to let me smell the fish before I buy). There is good high quality fresh, and just above that is super high quality fresh (this typical my minimum threshold for which is buy) and finally there is off the boat fresh. You typically can’t get off the boat fresh unless you’re fisherman and have cared for your catch yourself and not catch has been properly cared for while it was on the boat. This means bleeding the fish. It means putting it on ice immediately it means not slamming the fish on the deck or ice box.
Anyhow, we got scallops, oysters and yellowfin tuna and lobsters.
The yellowfin tuna was off the boat fresh. The texture of the fish was as good as any tuna that I have caught and properly cared for an eaten within a day or two of catching.
The scallops were also crazy fresh like off of a dayboat. There three main grades of scallops wet scallops that have been soaked in some weird brine and above that there are “ dry scallops” then above that
day boat scallops. When scallops are super fresh, they have a natural sweetness to them. Their texture is really firm when you slice into them, but then when you put them on your tongue, they melt in your mouth. These kind of scallops have to be eaten sashimi (raw) to really appreciated. The scallops were as good as I’ve ever had.
Oysters were also from Maine and were amazing. Fresh and clean.
Lobster’s were also great but it’s the stuff you eat raw that really make super super fresh and properly handled make all difference.
This place is a pain for me to get to and they have very limited hours, but it’s so worth the trip and hassle. Owners were super friendly and welcoming.
The location is kind of weird. It’s in an industrial park but don’t be intimidated. It’s totally worth it if highest-quality seafood is important to you.
I’m really grateful for this place bringing some of the freshest high quality seafood I have ever bought.
Absolutely amazing, delicious, fresh seafood. Shrimp, corn chowder, crab cakes and the salmon was definitely the best we have ever had. Can’t wait to try more next time! Get there!

Bob and the team are delightful to work with and always provide the highest quality product at a very reasonable price.
So I’m here for the summer for work and was recommended to come here. Super nice people. Man at the counter heard that I was from out of state, he took me in the back to see their tanks and was super happy to recommend things. Ordered both types of lobster rolls, cause why not. Both were great but man a Connecticut style with butter and warm/hot lobster… WOW!!! Please go here and try. No seating but no reason to not go…. I’ll be back again.
Amazing place, a hidden gem. Super fresh seafood and great soups.
The friendly folks at Community Shellfish have the freshest selection of seasonal cuts of fish, mussels, clams, oysters and of course LOBSTER (both picked meat and in a hot or cold - freshly made lobster roll)! Their location is tucked away in the Francis J. Clarke business park, but definitely worth the drive. Every time I'm planning on making a special seafood dish, this is my first stop!
Always the freshest seafood, steamed shrimp is so good and lobster rolls to die for! So friendly and definitely worth the visit.
