We had the next door experience: amazing food with very subtle and interesting flavors. As someone who’s familiar with southeast Asian food, the menu upgraded authentic local favors to another level with lots of creativity and thoughtfulness. Also love the atmosphere and decor.

Great atmosphere and great food! The restaurant is super cozy and the staff is very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the classic Taproot menu and everything else as great - special shoutout l to the venison which was unreal! They also have a great selection of cocktails and wine and very good desserts.

My husband and I are big fans of Kawa Ni in Westport. When a friend told us that one of the Taproot restauranteurs is the former executive chef at Kawa Ni, we knew we had to try it.It did not disappoint. A very creative menu, not your standard “New American.” We loved everything we ate. The wine list is also great, with some uncommon but very enjoyable hidden gems — I believe we had Petnat on our first visit. The service was excellent.

Food and atmosphere were nice. Decent cold peanut sesame noodle bowl. Best one still remains to be at Kawa Ni in Westport. However, I was slightly disappointed that when I made the reservation, it was not made clear to me that we would be in the next door portion of the restaurant, and therefore would not have access to the main menu. We had a birthday party of eight people, so I was assumed that we were sat on that side of the restaurant, because the party size was large. However when we asked to be able to order from the regular menu, we were told no. I hoped that they would have been able to accommodate small requests, such as ordering a burger as we were not told about this limitation ahead of time. In addition, service was exceptionally slow. I had to ask multiple times for refills on drinks. We also brought a cake for the birthday and had to ask for it to be served. While not a negative, I did think it was unprofessional to not mention that there was 20% gratuity included. While I know this is common on parties of six or more, I feel that it is appreciated when weight staff mentions that it has already been included on the bill. This was not done.

What a gem. Truly delicious. So fun to try several small plates. Fried boiled eggs were a revelation. Pork collar satay was delicious as well. Yummy drinks. Great service and vibe.

Loved Taproot! Live music, vibe, and food were all perfect! We had a burger that was so good I thought my boyfriend was going to cry. He even went into the kitchen to compliment the chef! LOL Wonderful addition to Sono!

Dinner reservations, 745, promptly seated. Thats about all the good i can say. Ordered one appetizer and two entrees and a speciality cocktail. The Tuna appetizer soaked in soy sauce and vinegar and sliced paper thin, not worth it at all. The entree (under "big platers") scallops, 3 small scallops for 32 dollars? the Hanger steak, tough that the steak knife could not cut, 2 small slices for 37 dollars. the "legend" drink, almost no alcohol and just a big scotch cube. Service average. I would never recommend this place. The food poor quality at best and smallest portions.

I ordered the big plate scallops and was disappointed it only had three scallops two sunchokes cut in halves. They were delicious and cooked perfectly but was the size of a started. For $32 I would have liked it to have something else on the plate. Luckly, I shared entrees and had half of the Lamb patty which was tasty and filling. It came with some fries that were very good as well. My cocktail was made very well. I found the menu limited. The quality of the food was very good and staff was friendly and helpful so I may try it again.

The menu at Taproot Nextdoor is amazing Don't miss Chef's delicious shrimp and crab dumplings, smoked mushroom egg rolls, fried tofu or sesame noodles. It was our second visit and we'll be back again real soon!!

I learned of this restaurant from an Instagram post praising the steak as "Top Ten in Connecticut". The meal was a belated Valentine's dinner with the wife. We didn't order the steak -but, the burger, chicken, and appetizers were very delicious. The bread pudding was an excellent finish to the experience. The majority of our meal was in a quiet atmosphere with two super attentive servers.

Service was fantastic, as was the wine list. Sadly, even though the restaurant was mostly empty, I took an absurd amount of time (and several apologies from the servers) for the food to come. That would not have been a big deal, had our $35 duck dish not been so poorly cooked. It was not cooked hot enough to crisp the skin and the meat itself was chewy. Hard to accept that for these prices.

A truly exceptional meal-best duck main dish I’ve ever had. My husband had black sea bass special, it was wonderful as well. The venison appetizer and scallop were awesome including our cake with ice cream and dark chocolate pot de cream with peanut brittle. I truly loved every dish.Absolutely marvelous for all the senses. The service was a little bit slow but everyone was nice. Chelsea, the bartender, was so great. She gave us credit for the drink due to the waiting time. Chris at the front was sweet and helpful. I forgot to give the restaurant the gift card when I paid the bill. Stephanie, the manager, was so kind. She adjusted the bill for us with our gift card. While walking in I saw her at the door smiling at us, it was a great feeling from the start to the end. She also helped her waitress picking up the dishes from our table. Her passion and professionalism was truly top notch.I will definitely be visiting this wonderful restaurant again.
