Overpriced (yes, even for a shoreline fish market) and both the owner and employee tried to upsell me on 4 different things I had absolutely no interest in, making it pretty uncomfortable for me. Quality seemed good, but not worth the excessive price or pushy experience

This was my first experience with Bud’s. Our Branford friends asked us to pick up some salmon for dinner. I called in advance to have 4lbs put aside. Hal (nicest guy ever!) told me he had the best fresh King Salmon in stock and that it was “buttery and delicious” and it would be the best salmon we would ever have. He could not have been nicer on the phone, and was even more personable in person! What a great store with great staff! So many wonderful food items and goodies in there besides seafood and fish. When I arrived my order was nicely packaged and boxed up, ready to go. Well-Hal was correct and every single person (there were 10 of us) said it was THE BEST salmon they had ever eaten! 5 stars! Yes it was pricier than the grocery store or Costco but it was so worth it! Thanks Hal and Bud’s, I will be back! :)

I paid $113 for 17 shrimp that were super salty and $85 on pound of shrimp one tail and all clause of lobster. Total waste of money not even good quality for that much money will not be going back.

We have traveled to Buds for almost 10 years to get perfect fish and herring fillets. We live in Saratoga NY. It is well worth the trip. The salmon is to die for. The owner is very friendly and knows his stuff. Super friendly and his wife. Love Buds. I also have fish shipped if we can’t do the trip. Never disappoints. Wish we had that in Saratoga

First time at this business and so sticker shocked, compared to other seafood places (spent $200.00 on a bunch of stuff). Was assured their lobster was so fresh compared to grocery stores. Bought a 3.25 pound lobster at $24.99 a pound, and the meat was shrunk in the shell terribly, like it was in the tank for some time. Less than 2 pounds of steamers cost $50.00 bucks. They do have some unique stuff, but will cost you more than you need to spend. Sorry for the honesty.
Thank you for the herring fillets my daughter picked up yesterday…we are in Saratoga NY and ordering from Buds every year has been a tradition. The herring is good size and firm. Thank you again and we will see you next year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. You guys are the best!

Hal was amazing! I had a big order of Live Lobster, Dry Scallops, King Salmon, Shrimp, Mussels, Swordfish, Littleneck Clams, Oyster, and Clam Rockefeller, all fresh. He had it all boxed up and ready for a two day trip, by the time I got there. Very, very clean, in a very nice area. He let me leave my Truck there, so I could go for a nice walk along the Ocean. This is one place that has NOT lost that personal touch.FYI, he ships all over the country.
