i cannot say enough good about Bui Vietnamese Cuisine! the food is delicious, and the owner is so very kind and welcoming. with plentiful vegan and vegetarian friendly options, there is most definitely something for any palette to love! the space inside is cozy and nicely decorated, and feels very comfortable to eat in. i would highly recommend eating here or ordering food here!
Vegetarian options: a handful of vegan and vegetarian options that are labeled as such. the owner is also very knowledgeable and was refreshing to talk to about vegan and vegetarian options; he pointed out anything on the menu that was vegan/vegetarian and let us know if anything could be altered to be made vegan or vegetarian. very accommodating for a plant based diet
Parking: the restaurant is located in a plaza that has plenty of parking close!
Wheelchair accessibility: one level, easy enough to get a wheelchair into! handicap parking spaces available

We've been to Bui several times, and everything we've tried has been amazing. (We have to order double appetizers, because otherwise we fight over the last one!) Any excuse I have to go here for lunch, I will take it.
I have seen a few reviews here complaining about not being able to be seated. Bui has a very small staff, which means that when it's busy (whether with take out orders or with filled tables), I've seen them have to turn people away. I don't think this is a flaw--I would so much rather be told that I can't be served than be promised service and have to have a long, unreasonable wait! I'd also much rather eat at a small, family owned, independent restaurant, especially when the food is as excellent as it is at Bui.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at here! Their traditional pho was incredible—rich, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by their homemade chili paste, which added just the right kick. I also tried the egg drop soup, which was warm, comforting, and delicious. To top off the meal, we had their chocolate cake, and wow—it was light, airy, and packed with flavor.
Our server, Steven, who is also the owner, truly made the experience exceptional. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided great recommendations while staying attentive throughout the meal. He ensured our water glasses were always full and checked in with us just the right amount.
The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and perfect for a cozy dining experience. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to anyone looking for amazing Vietnamese cuisine. I can’t wait to go back very soon!

Place was empty and were told a party of 7 couldn't be accomodated. We were told we could ONLY order soups and they couldn't fulfill entree orders..... again, the place had nobody in it. What a waste of time.

I’ve eaten here twice and had a great meal both times. We came with a group of 7 the first time and the owner was able to accommodate us, the second time we made reservations for a group of 4. I’d recommend making reservations if you’d like to dine in for dinner! They do a busy to-go business as well. Food is flavorful, fresh, and delicious plus they have a lot of vegetarian options. I grew up in Seattle surrounded by Vietnamese restaurants and despite living in Brooklyn and eating at Vietnamese places around New York City, Bui’s is the closest to the flavors I grew up with.

Throughly disappointed in this place, we came for dinner at 4:50pm on a Saturday. There were seven in our party, the restaurant was EMPTY and we were told we could only order soup ( nothing else) that they were prioritizing their take out business over actual customers sitting in their dining room who made the drive. Steven the owner and host was a bit rude when we questioned him why and seemed genuinely put out to have people in his restaurant . It’s a shame because we heard good things, will not be returning. Don’t waste your time making the trip you will be turned away, plenty of great Pho in New Haven, go there.

My girlfriend is a crazy pho critic. After trying a bunch of places around greater New Haven, we chose to come to Bui as the only authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Not Thai, Chinese or Japanese with pho. Straight Vietnamese. The food was 10/10. Got steak pho and spicy duck. The owner was fantastic and treated us like we were regulars. 11/10 would recommend. Also the sticky rice was good, highlight was def main course.
