Working with Genee and the Herbaceous team was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding in Newtown. From our first conversation, we shared that we had several dietary restrictions and wanted the food to feel warm, comforting, and truly us. Genee’s response was simply, “Bring it on.”
We completely customized the menu together, and our tasting was an absolute blast. It felt more like a fun, creative collaboration than a typical vendor appointment. On the wedding day, the food exceeded every expectation. Our guests still tell us it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding.
Beyond the food, Genee herself is a gift. I genuinely miss speaking with her on a weekly basis. If you’re considering Herbaceous, don’t hesitate. You’ll be in the best hands.

My husband and I recently gave a dinner reception to celebrate our elopement and at the recommendation of our venue (Open Farmhouse in Redding, CT) we used Herbaceous Catering. We had a phenomenal experience with Genee, Jesse and the rest of their team. Genee was super helpful and professional during the planning process and solved problems I hadn't even considered, like bringing buttered pasta for our toddler guest. The food at the actual event was delicious and beautiful. I actually gasped when I came out and laid eyes on our grazing board for the first time! Numerous guests told me that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding-related event, and I have to agree. The service staff in attendance were also extremely professional, knowledgeable and helpful. When our speeches before dinner ran longer than anticipated, they handled the delay seamlessly. We worked with Genee to cater a plated three course dinner party for my mom's 70th birthday. She was a dream to work with and collaborated so well during the planning stages to make sure the evening went super smoothly. All the food was locally sourced and incredible. She could not have been more accommodating to one guest who had multiple, severe food allergies, which was so kind, and made that guest feel so comfortable absolutely diving into her meal. HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking to have a party at home- just the best!

If you haven’t tried the home delivery or purchased her goods from the Westport farmers market.. you’re really missing out.
