Sat outside and really enjoyed the food. A dear friend of mine is from the Dominican and will be visiting us soon so I wanted to experience it before taking him there. And now I won't hesitate.

Hot summer day and no air conditioning. Sit outside on the patio and roast or sit inside, listen to the conversations of men at the bar and also be hot. Fans did not do the trick. As to the food - blah and tasteless. The pork with the Monfongo was dry and overcooked. The accompanying sauce had no flavor - and it was to compliment the meal. The salad of shredded lettuce and tomato was unappetizing since the lettuce was brown; the tomato pale and mealy. Ordered a beef and cheese empanada. Same as with everything else - uninspiring. Seems the pastry was nothing more than supermarket rolled pie crust. Parking is a problem.

Mambo provides very good Central American food, such as the seafood mutongos (different cooked seafoods inside a nice cornmeal cup). The back patio has scenic wharf side views of both the Thames River traffic going by and a stream of Amtrak trains on the North East Corridor. A good choice for a quick lunch after visiting the nearby New London Customs House Museum.

My colleagues and I had been searching for a place that offered an energetic atmosphere and authentic cuisine, well we found it here! We ordered the Paella and weren't disappointed! It was hot and fresh. The fried plantains were awesome. It happened to be one of the guys birthday in the group, a coworker told the help and the music got kicked up and he was dancing with the waitress. Amazing!! We'll be back!!

I love coming here, especially since I can eat near the water, with an amazing view when it's nicer outside. One of my favorite drinks they serve is the OJ w/ milk, which sounds terrible, but is quite good (especially if you like orange creamsicles). Their plantains are the best too!

The food was great and well cooked. The food taste so so good that we love it. They give enough food, we had to take home. The staff are nice and are bilingual. The restaurant is clean and beautiful. Good music. They dont cook at night all during the day. At night its a club.

Our family knows spanish style food, and this is the real deal. Very good portions so you can share, everything is freshly made and tasty.

A nice deck, though the music and conversation from the bar next door are quite audible...and a passing train can startle you. The beer selection is limited but typical of for a Spanish-oriented eatery. I had the Paella and it was tasty, especially with the yellow plantains. Portion was very generous. Attentive wait staff.

Very good food, but service is terrible. Waited for a very long time for someone to come over and take a drink order and actually bring it over. Then asked for the check three times and, then went in to get it because nobody brought it out. Could be a great place, but staff needs training.

I am not a person that eats a lot of Spanish food but went here with a few friends to give it a try. Food was delicious, portions were large. Prices are very reasonable. For authenticity my friends who were with me were Hispanic and all said the food was delicious and authentic. The staff was very friendly and the service was good but while there it was not crowded

Not only does this place have amazing authentic Spanish food but it is extremely reasonable with its pricing and if you stay late enough you will find yourself enjoying some fantastic dancing!

Looking for a walkable lunch spot from the harbor, we took a risk, since no menu was posted in the window, and we weren't sure what to expect. We were a bit early for Saturday lunch... the place was empty, which always makes me uneasy. But we were greeted and subsequently charmed by Ambiorix, a member of the family that owns / runs this place. We ate out on the back terrace, an interestingly slightly gritty, slightly urban spot overlooking the train line and the harbor. We ordered two different versions of Mofongo, which I'd never heard of before : fried plantain mashed and formed into bowls, filled with various fillings, in our cases, a seafood medley stew, and garlic shrimp. FYI: The plaintain is quite bland... I very rarely add salt, but I did here, but I nonetheless enjoyed the food. We were informed that while not on the menu, we could also request casava-based bowls, which we plan to try in future. We eat out to experience something different than what we would cook at home, and we were not disappointed. But I also have the thank Ambiorix, who elevated a meal to a highly memorable experience.
