EVERYTHING WAS GREAT ! Flavorful and fresh. The best my family ever tasted. Looking for real authentic southern food definitely try POE’S KITCHEN ❤️❤️ and it’s worth it to travel for. My taste buds is still happy even after hours later lol but seriously You won’t be disappointed.

Hands down one of the best places I have eaten in a long time . If I could give more than 5 stars I would.As we were going through Connecticut we came across this restaurant. TikTok spoke highly of it so we came here.I donno about anyone else but taste wise, my tastebuds were jumping up and down. I got the Rasta salmon and shrimp. I donno what seasoning is on here but man, I want it. Usually pasta is boring and lacks flavor but every bit I took was an explosion of flavors! The salmon or shrimp didn’t have a fishy tasty or smell. This was unexpected and very welcoming. Seafood that doesn’t feel of taste fishy = fresh .The wings and fries . Fries are better then McDonald’s. And the wings were piping hot and tasted better than all the wing places I’ve tried down in ATLANTA.Portions don’t leave you hungry not one bitService was great and the owner was friendly as can be.Tbh I wish he had one of these back home.If your in Connecticut this Poes kitchen is a must. The food here is amazing! You get large portions and the flavor is unmatched! Loopy and Poe are a great combination in the food service industry. I went with the pork chop & was pleasantly surprised by the juiciness due to it being bone-in, something you don’t typically experience in a sandwich. Good seasoning on soft white slices. Just what you want. Kudos to the cook for making my lunch during jury duty enjoyable. Great to see you can get a tasty bite @ the historic Arcade Mall.

I had ordered a shrimp dinner with macaroni and cheese and yams. They left a bed of rice underneath the shrimp which I didn't ask for and also wasn't part of the description. I paid for shrimp. Not rice. Completely unacceptable and the food doesn't taste the same without Poe cooking either.

When I visit Bpt I always support the soul food restaurants. Poe’s food is great! Really good with generous portions but, the service is HORRIBLE. A couple of months ago I arranged a birthday dinner for my sister. It was a party of 8. I was excited for my daughter in law that was visiting from Florida to enjoy the food I bragged so much about. As we stood to be seated we were greeted by an unfriendly voice, a woman who said it was too many of us. Her back hurt and she wouldn’t be able to serve us. I was extremely disappointed and embarrassed because I had so many great things to say about Poe’s. I have been a waitress before, a party of 8 would mean a huge tip yet she turned it down for medical reasons which I understood. A month later I went back to give them another try. This time greeted by a friendly younger lady. When asked if chopped bbq was available she called for the same woman that turned our group of 8 away. Chopped bbq wasn’t available so I ordered 2 chicken wing dinners. Which include 2 sides. The total was over $43 being that it was lunch time I remembered the soul food restaurant on the next block does have chopped bbq like I wanted with 2 sides for $10 during lunch, I told her nicely I changed my mind. Before I could get out the door I could hear the same waitress that turned us away make rude remarks. I still didn’t give up on Poe’s being that I met the owner at Grand Opening when he moved to a new location, he was extremely nice & friendly: I then again attempted to order yesterday evening (Saturday). I asked do you have chopped bbq? No not today! Do you have potato salad? No Not today! Same voice, same woman that turned us away. I will NEVER deny Poes food is great but, not so much customer service. The ONLY reason why I’m leaving a review is because Poes has the potential to out sell every soul food restaurant in Bridgeport IF customer service improves. If the waitress has a medical condition that prevents her from serving a party of 8 on a Sunday someone else should be able to. Food 5 stars, atmosphere 5 stars (even though I never dined in, it’s really nice, clean and cozy. I was not able to leave the 0 star review for customer service. You have to leave at-least 1 star on this app. I don’t knock anyone’s hustle, business is business but if a soul food restaurant around the block has $10 lunch specials Poe’s need to have competitive prices. If you don’t want chopped bbq or potato salad & NOT dining in, give Poe’s a try. The food is TOP TIER. I STILL have not given up and will try again the next time I’m in the Bpt area.

The food is good but not worth the disrespect the woman who answer the phone is rude and unprofessional she made me not want to order anymore all because I had a few questions about sauces...talking about "i got other customers i don't have all day to be on the phone with u" who says that? like sweety if you don't like customer service find something else to do because in restaurant work ppl are going to ask certain things I don't care how busy you are and what other customers are near by u can either ask me to hold on or ask them to hold on I worked in restaurants for 8 plus years and that's exactly why some restaurants fail because of one bad apple pushes ppl away and on to another restaurant and the owner was nice about it but I still recommend training ur staff its your name on the line not ur employees I ordered here 2 times a week and spent well over 50 bucks each time on my orders yall lost a good regular customer.
