Food wasn’t fresh or had any flavor. First and last time trying. I called the restaurant before leaving this review hoping for a better experience the guy on the phone was very respectful and let me share my feedback. Only reason one day I would consider this place.

The first time I came the food was fantastic. This time it was a bit cold and not as well seasoned. The server was friendly but disappeared frequently and didn’t check on the table unless flagged down. The atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing however the music is obnoxiously loud. Making it impossible to converse with the people next to/ across from you even whilst screaming. Left with a booming headache

This soul food spot was the perfect dinner I didn’t know I wanted or needed. The service provided by the staff was phenomenal. Made me feel special like I was family and they were hosting. The ambiance was tranquil and soothing. Make sure you grab the booth with the blue seats. Had a tequila mixed drink which was a lil on the strong side (just the way I like it). I ordered the cat fish dinner and my friend order fried chicken dinner with loaded fries as an appetizer. Everything from the succulent fish to the savory yams and the perfect black eyed peas. Everything was phenomenal and finger licking. Great place, great service, excellent food. Altogether came up to 60$. Would I come here again, hell yea. Thanks for having us.Wheelchair accessibility: Lots of moving space

Someone picked up a lunch plate for me. Therefore, I can't speak for the service. The chicken was fried perfectly. As for the seasoning, I think it depends on whomever is judging it. It tasted good, but it seemed generic, as if there's no family recipe passed down for it, or anything like that. The mac and cheese was good, but it was really basic. It was better than box made, Kraft, but not as good as most black folks' holiday 3 cheese, baked macaroni and cheese. They didn't do a full bake on it and it contained only one simple cheese sauce. Good enough, but a let down, in my opinion.

I could swear I wrote a review for Thelmas a couple years ago, maybe 2022. But anyhoo, I'll rewrite best i can and add pictures later (if there is a later).I went for my sister's birthday. We had a couple tables. I got there on time (she had reservations), but of course the rest of the party were on CPT. so I was seated and I recall sitting there for a good 25mins, and never even asked if I wanted a glass of water. Nothing. Like i wasnt even there. That really bothered me. I left bc the party still wasn't there and I felt awkward. So anyway I came back when my sister finally texted me she was there. We sat in a different spot then where I was seated earlier. I ordered a drink. The music was so loud, we couldn't hear anything the waitress was saying, much less the people at my table. For people who like to dance ave such, I guess that's fun. For me, I prefer a place I can hold conversation at a decent volume and enjoy my meal. I ordered collard greens, cornbread and macaroni. I engender sleuthing that the collard greens were fire. But unfortunately that was about it. The cornbread was dry. The Mac was too... tasted like they'd made it earlier in the week and just reheated it, but didn't add more milk or cheese to moisten it up or anything. Very disappointing. As a vegetarian, I normal like to just order sides. And not often are there places that serve soulfood. So I was looking fwd to these sides. A lot at the table wasn't too happy with their food. Only my cousins that ordered some kind of taco seemed content. Anyway, I got my bill and, it was late December, so I tipped the bill. The waitress was shocked.i hope, if nothing else, they don't completely ignore someone again bc you never know how generous a person can be. That all being said, it seems this place is hit or miss with the food. I recently went back 2024 for a friend's birthday. I didn't order anything bc I was just popping in and headed to arena. But the service we had was stellar. So again, I guess even the service is hit or miss!Vegetarian options: You can order sides. But not much else really.Parking: After 6 parking is free in Bridgeport during week. And free all day on weekends.

Vibe is nice,dj was great staff very nice with a smile buttttt the food not so great the greens I did like but the Mac was straight out of a box and the fish clearly from frozen bag a lot of rice little black eye peas .but I will say this if they had fresh fish and better Mac I would probably become a regular there.but keep the greens the same!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am ashamed of what I got for salmon and grits. This is horrible. The salmon is over cooked. What happens to the quality? However, the staff was very nice and refunded me.

I came to this town from NY for an event , and wanted to visit the restaurant, I took an Uber here ,was rudely half way greeted and told that there were no tables or seats available for me or my husband , yet there were multiple empty seats as you can see from my photos , the receptionist then smiles and greeted other guests . As I stood and waited for another Uber , I’m highly disappointed .
