We had such a wonderful experience here. The food was fresh and very good, it was also hot and arrived fairly quickly. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The bread is made right there and the quality of good ingredients shows. We will definitely be repeat customers!
This is a wonderful addition to the dining scene in Canaan, and makes the best lavender chocolate cake we have ever had. Exciting to watch the buzz build. Breakfast or lunch equally special.
The food was delicious ! Took some time to get it but it was made fresh! Worth the wait!! And the prices very fair!!!!

Cafe Gourmet Bakery & Catering is a wonderful and incredible hidden gem. The menu is varied and changes seasonally, with generous portions made fresh and to order. Guests can order breakfast for lunch as well. The food is absolutely delicious and of superb quality.
For breakfast, items like the vegetarian omelette with goat cheese, the croque madame, and the sausage egg sandwich on a homemade roll with house made sausage are all fabulous and delicious. Sides like the perfect potato hash are wonderful. The breakfast is described as one of the best in a long while.
Lunch offerings are also excellent. The beat salad with whipped goat cheese is out of this world. Soups like the French onion soup and potato leek soup are superb and excellent. The classic sandwich, a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato, is a perfect complement. Sides like truffle fries are excellent. Desserts, such as the chocolate lavender cake with blueberry brown butter ice cream, are so good words cannot describe them. The bakery also offers fresh breads and pastries like brown butter blueberry muffins, cookies, and chocolate dipped biscotti. The hot chocolate, topped with whipped cream and mini chocolate chips, is one of the best ever.
The service is excellent, very accommodating, and friendly. The staff and owner are welcoming and care about customers being happy and coming back. The prices are good. It is worth a special trip.
