Highly recommend this wonderful spot, blending Thai Cuisine & American favorites. My wife ordered the Thai Beef Salad and loved it! The quality of the food is high, the staff is very sweet, and the dessert is UNBELIEVABLE. I believe it was the date pudding that we ordered by recommendation and we completely cleaned our plates.
Don’t miss this one! Special thanks to Jihan for being so sweet & kind.

Stopped in for a quick dinner before a play and wasn't disappointed. Great service, nice atmosphere, and very good food. We ordered 4 starters fir dinner and all were tasty, especially the pork buns and the barrata.

This was my third or fourth visit, most of my party's first time. We all really enjoyed everything. Great atmosphere, not too noisy, so you could actually hear conversation at the table, superb service and the food was delicious, as it always it. The shishito peppers were amazing, so much that we had 2 orders of them. My Caesar salad and Vietnamese pork buns were FABULOUS. Others had monkfish, gnocchi and tagliatelle with shrimp - we were all members of the clean plate club. :) Desserts were delicious, shared the custard with pistachios, flourless chocolate cake and the wine berry float. We would all definitely go back. Highly recommend River Tavern. Thanks so much for a great dining experience and evening.

Food so good, I could cry. I came here a month ago and kept thinking of excuses to come back to this area just so I could come to this restaurant. This is food you savor.

A lovely restaurant with great food and friendly staff! We enjoyed eating lunch and hope to be back soon for dinner! If you are hungry I recommend the burgers. While the other dishes are delicious the portions are rather small.

Update 2024: Food still great. Cocktails are now terrific. BUT…service is not up to snuff. Very odd how hostesses handle patrons. They are strangely condescending about seating even when many tables are empty. Strange way to run a dining room of a pretty popular restaurant. Trends seem pretty tough for pricey restaurants in off beat locations like Chester CT. RT should really try a more accommodating style at the hostess station.
2020: Always great. The food is amazing. The cocktails are consistently not worth getting. Usually too tart. Love going there. Have been many times.

My wife and I both had pasta dishes. Both serving sizes were very small for the $30 price. I have never spent $30 on a pasta dish without something to bring home.
Both dishes were obviously made by mixing a hot sauce with an already cooked (and refrigerated) pasta. I truly appreciate and respect that the pasta was hand made, but it was cold!
Our waiter (and his younger brother, also a waiter) was exceptional, thank you.
I can’t recommend the food at those prices, but it was a wonderful evening in a great atmosphere.

Noa is the best best best! The food was spot on and probably the best thing I’ve had in the past 20 years. The wine was pretty good. All the staff especially Noa were so kind and just plain awesome! It’s also a really nice space-though it can get slightly loud but they do a pretty good job with the sound panels!
Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options and they have a lot of flexibility with how they make the dishes.
Parking: On the street and at the graveyard there is parking usually.
Kid-friendliness: Very flexible and they do have some decent options for little kids.

i dont typically write reviews unless i had a terrible experience or an amazing one. fortunately - this experience was amazing! the staff was extremely friendly. my waitress answered all of my questions and one of the workers there gave me the sweetest compliment. its clear they go out of their way to make you comfortable/feel welcome, even when they are busy/overwhelmed; on that note, they do get busy, especially around dinner time, so be prepared to have a little wait for your food (make a reservation beforehand as well). i also got a side Caesar salad which was $15-16, was a little pricey for the size/quality, but besides that, my overall experience was great (: thank u to the amazing staff!
