What a disappointing experience we had today at the bidwell tavern. I think our server just forgot that we were her table. We ordered some of their famous wings for an appetizer, the reason we went there tbh, and after a long wait we asked another server if she would check on them for us and she brought them out right away. They were not fresh and had obviously been sitting for a while, but they were still delicious even though they were cold. I ordered a beer when we finished our wings and I did not get it. Then again, we waited a long time for our dinner, and had to ask our server to check on it for us. She went into the kitchen and returned right away with our food. She lied to us and said that she was, “keeping an eye out for it”, suggesting that the kitchen had just finished making it. That was not the case, because once again, the food was not fresh. I then asked about my beer and she apologized and brought it to me right away. It has obviously been sitting for a while. After we finished eating we sat for a while with dirty plates in front of us before we finally were able to get her attention by interrupting a very long conversation she was having with the other servers. It's a shame because money is tight and we don't go out to eat very often and we just wanted a good dinner. If the server had just paid attention to us, it would have been a good experience as the food would have been great if it was fresh. Too often we are finding that servers just don't care like they used to.

We opted to dine outside on the patio. Each table had a fan designed to keep the flies away from your food but they weren't much of a problem. The server was good. It was a beautiful late afternoon to enjoy the patio. I ordered a pumpkin martini for starters. I was disappointed by how small it was and that it came in a plastic cup but the martini itself was good. I ordered a salad which was very good but the plate it was served on made it difficult to cut the vegetables and mix the salad dressing. I ordered the baked, stuffed scallops. They came with rice and steamed vegetables. The scallops were very good but the rice had a pasty texture and was bland. I don't care for vegetables but I did like the green beans. I would come back again and try some other dishes.

Wings are probably the best I’ve ever had. Hot garlic wings were A++. Stopped in late night after producing an event in town. Although they were getting ready to close they stayed open for us to eat. Very cool main dining room from the late 1800’s.

So disappointed. This place had been one of our favorites for so many years. The dry rub wings (2 types) were like literally eating salt. My husband couldn’t even eat them. I took them home to rinse & reheat before I’ll eat them. The fish & chips was way overcooked like way past golden brown - it was dark brown & the fish was dry & greasy. Fantastic waitress, still great atmosphere. Sad.
