It actually pains me to write this because I’ve always told everyone that Bidwell has the best wings in CT. Unfortunately, tonight was really disappointing. The wings were extremely dry, almost inedible, which was surprising given how incredible they used to be. The nachos were also underwhelming, just plain tortilla chips with a few slices of melted cheese and some lettuce, tomato, and onion on top.
I’ve loved this place for years and wanted it to be our go to date night spot, but based on this experience, I’m not sure we’ll be back. It’s sad to see the food quality decline because it truly used to be out of this world.

Absolutely use to be are go to for wings they absolutely sucked way over done appetizers wings and drinks was $120. Bartender was absolutely disrespectful spilled the drink on my wife didn’t apologize didn’t give her napkins. Pretty sure I’ll never go back here again.

Best wings in CT now that I’ve tried them all. This place is historic and delicious. Nachos were also on point! I can’t recommend this enough. 10/5 stars actually. Honey hot bbq will be my go to forever.

Huge shout out to Johnny the owner tonight. We went on a Monday evening. It was our work Christmas party. We arrived fairly early, 5 o’clock. There wasn’t a lot of people our server came right over and took our appetizer and drink order. T hen she took our food order. Our apps came rather quickly. We spent a lot of time eating the appetizers talking exchanging gifts and it was a while until our food actually came out. She did tell us that our food order was ready, but we were still just chitchatting and picking up the appetizers. A good 15 minutes if not longer went by and then all our food came out. When it did, everyone’s food was cold to the point that we actually had to say something.. she immediately went and got the manager, who is also the owner. He came out pretty much almost immediately. He asked what was going on. When we told him he immediately took ownership. He apologized, wanted to comp our meals. We were all like no way there’s seven of us. You can’t do that. So he did end up giving us some gratuities for the inconvenience for a return visit. He didn’t charge us for dessert. This is what a true manager and owner should do. Definitely not make excuses. Take ownership, fix it , and make it right. Just make sure that the customer is happy ,which he totally fulfilled. It doesn’t change our opinion of the place. We also take ownership that yes we probably took too long so the food sat . We love it there, and we will definitely be going back.

Very good place to eat, very good food and very good service.
Crowded but warm and comfortable like I imagine a new england tavern was like 200 years ago. Waitress was strong and stalwart, miraculously managing heaping trays of food and armloads of drink through the tables squeezed together around a big warm wood stove while musicians entertained all. A great experience with ample food.
