“Small family owned restaurant. Mostly for takeout, but they do have 3 small tables for dining in. Food is delicious and made to order, not made in large batches making it fresh and not soggy or lukewarm. If you are like me and like sweet crab rangoons (more cream cheese) these are not for you. They are more crabby, for some thats a bonus! The staff working are always sweet and kind. Overall a great experience!”

“my goodness! still savoring my gorgonzola steak salad from last night... was a special on the menu...served with balsamic dressing...I opted for Bleu cheese dressing instead...I get this everywhere, when possible and WITHOUT A DOUBT THE ABSOLUTE BEST steak gorgonzola salad I have ever had! Steak was cooked to absolute perfect and extremely tasty...as was the house made Bleu cheese. probably the best steak I've ever had. 5 stars hand down! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“The food at Gallo's is by far the best I've had in the area. They took extra care with our vegetarian quesadillas, creating an off-menu special with mushrooms, onions, and peppers, all freshly cooked and packed into fresh and tender corn tortillas. They will make anything in a veggie version and also do gluten-free. The storefront restaurant is modest but has a warm feeling. Gallo's has the feel of a community favorite and the food is made with love. Can't recommend this gem enough!”

“I love supporting local small businesses! This place does not disappoint. They are super friendly and always ready to answer any questions. I have tried many different things and I am always very pleased. Yesterday I picked up some of their strawberry jelly and it tastes just like my mom's used to. 💜 Its the first one I've been able to find and putting it on their bread made either even better! I also picked up the Hungarian mushroom soup. It was so tasty and full of mushrooms! If you haven't tried this spot definitely put it on your list! You won't be disappointed 🥰”

“I’ve been here countless times and the food is consistently very good. The servers are always friendly too. Tonight I sat at the bar after a class and ordered grinders for takeout. Absolutely THE best grinders we’ve had in forever. My veggie and cheese grinder was LOADED with veggies! My husband’s grinder had so much nest he could have created 2 more grinders. “We stopped into Cooley’s Kitchen while visiting family in Connecticut, and somehow it already feels like part of “home” for us. 🧡🐾 Jen helped us find a table near the back during dinner rush, which ended up being perfect. Low traffic, quieter, and right by a beautiful sunset. As disabled guests with a power chair, sensory overload can happen fast for us, especially in busy restaurants. Whether intentional or not, both Jen and Aaron seemed incredibly aware of the environment around us. Several times when the sun started shining directly into our eyes, one of them would naturally step into the light while checking on us so we could keep enjoying our cheeseburger grinder without getting overwhelmed. Small thing maybe, but it mattered a lot to us. What stood out most was how human everything felt. Not forced “customer service.” Real care. Jen sat and talked with patrons and you could immediately tell this is a place locals genuinely love. Friends, families, regulars. Everyone seemed comfortable there. They checked in with us based on timing and body language, not because some policy told them to stop by every few minutes. Even the thumbs up from across the room felt personal and warm. We had a chance to talk a little about the restaurant too. Hearing that this was Aaron’s dream and that they’ve been building it together for the last two years honestly made the experience even better. You can feel the passion behind the place. Aaron being a chef and Jen helping build the community side of it makes the whole restaurant feel alive in a way chain restaurants never do. Every time we come to Connecticut, we stop here…usually more than once. Truthfully, places like this are part of why we’ve started looking at Ellington as somewhere we could someday call home, even all the way from Iowa. Good food matters. But being seen as human matters more. Cooley’s Kitchen gave us both. 🧡🐾”
