Unfortunately they’re constantly refusing takeout orders even though it’s offered. Mitchell’s in rocky hill will always take a takeout order no matter how busy.

After a morning hike through River Highland Park, 10 of us gathered at Mitchell's for a bite to eat. Excellent service and delicious food!

My husband and I recently visited Boston and Middletown, CT. We stayed in Cromwell, CT. We had excellent dinners at really wonderful restaurants in Boston, New Haven and Middletown, but the highlight of the trip was breakfast at Mitchell's on Main. We went there first on a Saturday. It was busy, packed with people, all of whom seemed to one another and were well known to the staff. I had the Italian Garbage Plate. With a name like that, how could I resist: fried potatoes with sausage, onions and red pepper, topped with melted cheese and a couple of poached eggs. My husband had Eggs Oscar - which is essentially Eggs Benedict with lobster and asparagus.

The breakfast was so good, we went back the next day and that was when the most startling thing happened. The hostess showed us to our seat and said, "One regular coffee and one decaf, right?" After one visit, in a crowded restaurant, she remembered. I ordered poached eggs and the server asked, "On the toast or in a cup?" I have never been asked that before and have often had to fish the poached eggs out of a little pool of cooling water in a cup. My husband had a tuna melt (yes it is a pretty big menu) and said it was the best he ever had.

Also, the street perpendicular to Main leads down to the river and a beautiful little park - a nice walk to work up your appetite. All in all a wonderful experience.

Breakfast staple in this small town. Salad breakfast choices. The menu is a little bit big, But most of the food is good.

Service is great, but very pricey for breakfast. Home fries should always come with an omelette and never be an add on. For the add on price the serving size was small. I waited until 3 visits until writing a review to give the benefit of the doubt because I like the people, atmosphere and value supporting local and not chain. But $1.75 for an additional egg is well overpriced. Unfortunately I will be choosing other locations for breakfast until they implement changes.

I’ve lived in Cromwell for about 20 years, I been here a handful of times and been unimpressed with the taste of the food and pricing. I usually go to a different diner but on the rare occasion that I do grab a breakfast sandwich here it is just not worth the price. I paid a little under 15 dollars for a breakfast sandwich here , at my usual diner it cost $ 8.59 for the same sandwich. Huge price different with better quality. I like the people in this diner but I can’t support the over priced food, but completely my opinion.
