My husband and I recently visited Boston and Middletown, CT. We stayed in Cromwell, CT. We had excellent dinners at really wonderful restaurants in Boston, New Haven and Middletown, but the highlight of the trip was breakfast at Mitchell's on Main. We went there first on a Saturday. It was busy, packed with people, all of whom seemed to one another and were well known to the staff. I had the Italian Garbage Plate. With a name like that, how could I resist: fried potatoes...
Service is great, but very pricey for breakfast. Home fries should always come with an omelette and never be an add on. For the add on price the serving size was small. I waited until 3 visits until writing a review to give the benefit of the doubt because I like the people, atmosphere and value supporting local and not chain. But $1.75 for an additional egg is well overpriced. Unfortunately I will be choosing other locations for breakfast until they implement changes.
This is the spot that will never disappoint you. The food is always consistent, the staff is always friendly. Our family's go to place! I absolutely love it! Thank you Tom and team!
