Good food and views. They got my wife's food order wrong and my drink order wrong, but we didn't say anything and what we got was pretty good.
Fabulous lunch with another couple last Thursday. We all enjoyed our meals - my ahi tuna sandwich was delicious. I will return just to get this again soon. We sat outside to take in the river view. Despite the extreme heat, the was comfortable in the shade with the fan. (There’s a roof over the seating area, not just umbrellas).
so good!
Rough service; kitchen NOT able to accommodate special preparation requests due to strict dietary issues. If going pre-theater, they clearly pre-cook the vegetables (very mushy) since serving many people at the same time.
I want to hear I had tickets to the Goodspeed Opera House which I enjoyed and I decided to go here always wanted to eat I considered the meal a five-star. And I really enjoyed everything I ate. Worth the price which was not too steep but a little more than I usually spend. Will be eating there again soon
The food was excellent with beautiful views
Lobster roll was dry and the worst types of meat. Rip off.
Scenario : RAGTIME matinee at Goodspeed Opera House - Pam ‘s Birthday - Sunday dinner following at Gelston House - expectations high for a perfect “ date “
Restaurant: Warmy welcomed, impeccable decor and ambience
Our waitstaff Madison was attentive and equally impeccable
As always, I followed the chef’s menu of the day - local pork, bone in chop with pomegranate glaze - OMG - scrumptious
Simply perfect afternoon and exceeded ( again ) expectations
Thank you Gelston AND Goodspeed

Was not able to order a cheeseburger in the main dining room while my wife ordered a complete dinner. I’ve done this for 15 years before we enjoy a play at Goodspeed. New manager and no one cared. Long time customers. UNBELIEVABLE!

More like an old-fashioned restaurant, which is not a bad thing. Entrees are generous and delicious. The vegetable side dish was just the over-cooked, squishy kind. It could have been better if the veggies were fresh and crunchy. We had to request bread, which seems to be a trend lately. Butter patties were the open-your-own type. An upscale restaurant like this should have butter served in a small bowl, slightly softened instead. The bread was delicious - crusty on the outside and soft in the inside. Olive oil was not an option. By the time we got to order it, it was served just after the entrees arrived. The dining room is beautiful, and the restaurant sits on the banks of the Connecticut River, a gorgeous site. Tables are spaced generously separated. Our waiter (perhaps a high-school kid) was well-meaning and friendly. He didn't have full knowledge of the menu, perhaps because he was new. But he certainly rushed back to the kitchen to get our questions answered. Admirable. OJT is one way to learn, but training by management is preferred. We liked him and we know he will be a good waiter. His friendly smile and willingness to help are real plusses. We appreciated the location next to The Goodspeed Opera House, which is a treasure in itself.

We had a delicious dinner at the Gelston House last night. The empanadas, seafood chowder, gelston chicken, and seafood trio were all delicious! When we walked outside we were able to see the northern lights to add a cherry on top. Wonderful evening!
We went to dinner at the Gelston House last night. The food was delicious (crab cakes, sordfish, steak, coffee with bailey's). The service was great. The manager came over to our table and talked to us for a bit, a very nice guy, everyone was very pleasant. The restaurant was packed, and food was delivered promptly. Beautiful building and clear view of the river. We will come back.

The food was delicious as usual. Our server was sort of an airhead, though. He was very pleasant but did not do anything unless we specifically asked and then reminded him. Then, at one point, we, and diners at another table asked if the window shade could be lowered because we were being blinded. While attempting to lower the shade, he pulled the entire thing down onto the people sitting by the window.

Nice atmosphere with lovely outdoor seating and convenient access to the Goodspeed. Those are the high points. There is nothing particularly wrong with this restaurant but also nothing that makes it stand out. Very large menu including a pizza menu, so not really a focus on a particular type of food. Lobster bisque was okay, no actual lobster in it and not very creamy. Short rib grill cheese looked delicious but somehow was ratter tasteless. Meat was tender but didn’t really have any flavor. Burrata was fine. If you need a quick bite before a show at the Goodspeed this is a perfect option but for me would be the only reason to return.
Nearby activities: Can park and eat here and also go to the Goodspeed.
