Good food and nice place, but there was no AC. We were there in the evening and it was really hot, we were not comfortable.
Not my vibe - pizzeria - not a brewery, not dog friendly
This review is a part of my quest of visiting all CT breweries. I tried beers from Hoax Brewing at beer festivals, but this was my first time visiting the brewery.
The brewery occupies it's own building, but it would be proper to say that the building belongs to a pizzeria, and the brewery just has a space there. There's plenty of parking available. A full kitchen is available. We tried their wood-fired pizza. While it was generally good, it was burnt compared to the usual wood-fired pizzas I order. There are cocktails available, we tried 2 of them and were not impressed.
At every brewery I try to taste as many beers as possible to get the hang of their beers. But this is the very first time I see that brewery does not offer half pours. The only option they suggested to me was to order a half pour for the full price of a pint. Honestly, it would have been better if they just did not offer anything. I was only able to try 2 of their beers - Stout Darn Time (stout) and Mugsy Morning Stout (golden stout) . I liked the latter, but the former was watery, thin and acidic. They also did not sell brewery stickers, although I know that they were offered before (as I own one).
Overall, I didn't enjoy my experience. For the most part it was die to the fact that this place is not a brewery, but rather a pizzeria who sells Hoax Brewery exclusively. Your mileage may vary.
This review is for the Hoax Brewery located in Da Legna at NOLO and NOLO.
NOLO is a restaurant that is known for pizza. They make wood fired thin crust pizza; the type of dough they use is sourdough. The beer is brewed by Hoax Brewing and you can see the beer canisters when you first walk in. There is a parking lot and patio area. The restaurant was chic and trendy.
We stopped in on a whim just to try the beers on a Saturda afternoon. The place was packed so it's best if you book reservations. Since we were only getting beer, they let us use the empty table up front. The hosts and servers were very nice and accommodating. I'm a sour beer fan so I tried two of the beers;
1. Raspberry toasted marshmallow sleight of hand: it has hints of raspberry, chocolate, and marshmallow; a very tasty beer! Definitely would order this again and loved the marshmallow flavor, it's unique when it's in beer format.
2. Tropic Thunder: it has notes of raspberry, pineapple, banana, and guava. It was good and reminded me of summertime.
The pizza looked and smelled so good from afar but we were getting dinner elsewhere. Next time, I look forward to trying the pizza out!
Very solid beer line up. Didn't have any room for food but the pizza looks amazing.
Limited beer selection. 4 on draft and 4 to go. No merchandise. Basic attitude at the bar was take it or leave it
Fun spot
Mugsy morning stout is the best, it tastes like coffee beans covered in chocolate with a syrupy finish I love it.
Good selection of sours and a sociable staff. Kevin was a joy to talk to
Very good

Hoax Brewing Company resides in a pizza restaurant - so come hungry. This awesome brewery serves up complementing pints of beer to pair perfectly with the New Haven style pizzas. Hoax brewing offers a wide variety of beers ranging from traditional Italian pilsners to hearty 10% imperial stouts.
Because this is CT, you will obviously need to try a juicy IPA like the Carrier of the Dead; a 6.5% Citra NEIPA. If you’re a fan of sours like me, the Seany Palmer (play on Arnold Palmer) and the Darkside Sour (with hibiscus, passion fruit, orange and guava) will absolutely hit the spot.
Hoax/Da Legna at Nola (restaurant name) have a large and free parking lot, it’s just off of 91 and every pizza we’ve tried these past two years has always been exceptional even by New Haven standards! We highly recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner if you’re traveling through the area.
Friendly staff and great beer.
Sour Diesel is without a doubt one of the best beers I've ever had! The facility (The Beeracks) is great. It was a good place to stop and have some Tasters! Great people and a Great Atmosphere!!! As someone who travels for a living Hoax has quickly become one of my favorite breweries in the country.
Hoax is a one of a kind brewery. When it comes to their sour ales, pale ales , or lagers. My personal favorite is their Sad Boi Lager. The Hoax Folks put lots of hard work and care into everything they do. It’s the only beer I drink. If you’re in Connecticut , grab some Hoax!
Amazing staff and such a cool vibe I’m definitely coming back to more events hosted here.
