Scaled Nerd

Twin pines is a staple of the east haven community and its always a pleasure to eat at as so much of the staff know you if your a frequent diner with them. The insides a bit like any diner but thats not a bad thing per say. Just you know what to expect. My only gripe with twin pines is the menu. This place has a GIANT menu. Fro. Staple breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, salads, seafood, pasta dishes, greek foods, tons and tons and tons. 4 to 5 pages of everything and the kitchen sink. Sometimes the variety is nice but most any cook knows that a huge menu means its hard to be consistant across all of it. For example sometimes you order a simple 3 egg omelet with cheese and its rubber or its watery.I tend to stick to the simple stuff as im SURE ordering anything too wild will turn out on the disappointing side of things like for example, gritty unclean scallops. But that diesnt mean the food is bad. The pancakes, burgers, fries, roast beef, are all to die for.I will also say becareful ordering desserts. I have ordered cake from what looks like a fresh uncut cake in the case only to get it and take a bit to find the frosting is like plastic its so old. And other times like its godly delicious. A common theme for the food that once again would improve if they refined the menu to be much smaller.

False advertisement of open 24 hours. Pulled up at 12:10 AM. And was turned away. Stop advertising that you are open 24 hours.

I stopped in twin Pines diner restaurant this morning and picked up a bacon, egg and cheese on a hard roll sandwich. I called ahead and it was ready when I arrived. I was greeted on the phone and in person by friendly people. The sandwich was a little bit pricey, but then again, it was a very good sandwich, so no complaints there. Overall, I’m happy I stopped here and if I’m working in the area in the future, I will definitely consider returning here again.

I arrived after my 4 friends. Their meals came to the table and they were GIGANTIC AMOUNTS of food, beautifully arranged with sides of toast or whatever and i couldnt believe how they were going to eat it all. I was about to order my plate when they all shouted NO! There was so much delicious food i couldnt even eat everything they shared w me! Pancakes w fruit, diff types of omlettes, chicken tenders w fries. Enough to feed an army! FABULOUS. EXCELLENT SERVICE ALL AROUND

It would be nice when I pay $13 and change for a grilled chicken sandwich on white toast with lettuce, cheese, onion and mayo (relatively simple sandwich) that they would put the mayo ON THE SANDWICH and not in a cup on the side where I have to take my whole sandwich apart to put it on. What a joke.

Awful! Waitress was very nice, ordered fries at the table- okay not bad. To go order along with that- chicken tenders hard as rock, inedible and 4 for $11? Ridiculous. Ravioli to go, 5 small pieces also for $15? CRAZY. Side salad had ONE piece of lettuce. Never again.
