Located along the scenic Route 58, this is always one of my favorite stops when driving through Easton. If you want to order a take out meal or just stop for a quick bite to eat, there is a lunch counter in a separate entrance from the two rooms that comprise the dining rooms. The parking can be a little tight, even with the extra spaces they offer behind the buildings. The majority of the meals on the dine-in menu average between $15 to $17, but the portions are generous and very tasty! Both breakfast and lunch items are offered. The dining room was busy ( we arrived at 11:30 ) and although it took a little while to place our orders, we did not have to wait long at all for our food to arrive at the table.

Food is excellent country fare. Like you're in a old roadside diner in Vermont. Bustling breakfast and full house here on a Saturday morning with good reason. There's not much else within miles of here; this area of the county (Aspetuck) is stunningly beautiful with stone walls, golf course, parks, preserves, beautiful historic homes full of country nostalgia and the menu is appealing to all diets...conscious or not. But for me, the poached eggs over toasted English muffins, corned beef hash and seasoned home fries with a hot cup of coffee served by a snappy, attentive and efficient waitress made this hour delightful.

Unusually busy Saturday afternoon which (who I believe was the owner told us as we waited an hour for our food). It’s a small packed place. We showed up (family of four) and waited 30 minutes (which we were told it would be so that was fine). Then we were sat and had an attentive waitress. We ordered pretty much right away and then waited very patiently for an hour for our food to arrive. They kept apologizing for our wait even though we never once asked about our food because we could tell it would be awhile. We were told this was rare and they are never this busy. We were very patient and I assumed it would be great diner food coming my way which is why I stayed patient. When our food finally arrived I’m sorry to say that it was nothing special at all. Kind of disappointing actually when basic diner brunch entrees were an average of $16. We got the bill and with our rush to finally get out of the cramped restaurant with our kids I didn’t notice we were taxed double what we should’ve been. And now that I think of that i would expect an offer to get at least something comped for our wait time which was never offered. Instead we get double charged on the tax.

We got a friendly enough greeting on a busy Sunday and only waited 15 minutes or so for a table for 5. And then the trouble began. We ordered 3 breakfasts and 2 lunch specials with quiche. And waited. And waited. I looked around after 30 minutes and realized people who had arrived before us also had not received their food. We waited some more. After about 50 minutes, the waitress brought out the three breakfasts and two essentially raw pieces of quiche. It took 5 minutes to get her attention. She apologized and brought us replacement French toast (slightly underdone, but too hungry to be choosy). Perhaps it was just an off day, but I'm not going to rush back anytime soon.

Whenever anyone suggests going out to a diner, i am usually the least enthusiastic participant. So I dragged myself along to join my family at this local greasy spoon that my nephew was raving about. There is plenty of outdoor parking and the restaurant is cozy and well air conditioned. We ordered pancakes, challah French toast, ham scram, omelettes, and a jalapeño burger. Order the home fries when it comes to the accompaniments - I promise you will not be disappointed. Even the non-potato lovers in the group demolished all the home fries. Even the toast is so good - buttered but not overdone. Omelette stuffed with veggies and nice & fluffy. The pancakes made my mouth water with how fluffy they looked. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, this skeptic included.

I love the cozy feeling you get when walking in the olde blue bird inn. Eating on the screened in porch with flowers in the window sill makes for a charming breakfast. The french toast was light, fluffy, and simply delicious. It was a classic delightful breakfast. I also really enjoyed the corned beef hash and hashbrowns. So much in fact i cleared both dishes by myself! Service was friendly and prompt. I would definitely be coming back here

Good:Mom & Pop spotFriendly staffNice variety of breakfast optionsThe meh:Service charges for using credit card (without a prior heads up)Tip only in cash The food is just okay - definitely pricey for what you get. Some things were over cooked, some things were under seasoned.

I had the Hash Special which was Eggs Benedict on a grilled English muffin with a little REAL cheese and then a layer of amazing corned beef. Excellent house potatoes on the side as well. Michelle, our waitress was very friendly and also efficient. It truly in the top 5 best breakfasts that I've ever had. A little pricey but worth the treat.

It doesn’t get any better than Blue Bird! A perfect omelet with home fries you’ll dream about.
