OMG… I don’t know where to begin. Looking at all the positive reviews we decided to go to this place. First, I would advise everybody to please check your receipts before paying because the cost on the menu is different than what he charges when giving you your bill. We noticed this after we had paid the and when we questioned him, he said “oh the prices have not been updated on his menu, but they are updated on the website”. This is not true. The cost is the same on the website, google and physical menu in restaurant. Also, I don’t understand why while dining in should the website price matter. When we called him later after checking out the website prices, he got really upset & abusive on the phone. Never going back here. Kitchen was filthy in the back ... got to see this mess on the walk to the restroom.

My wife and I drove 40 minutes for dinner here on a whim based on the photos and high reviews. At first glance, the place seemed like it had character and authentic food. Unfortunately, our experience makes us plan to never return.
We arrived around 9:15pm just as a party of four was leaving, which made us the only customers in the restaurant. We mentioned this was our first time there and the staff member initially seemed friendly and even offered complimentary drinks, which felt welcoming. After we ordered, we sat down to wait for our food, looking forward to eating. About 15 minutes later, he silently dropped a bag on the table next to us without saying a word. We assumed it was a mobile order, because we didn’t ask for anything to go, so we continued our conversation and waited—only to realize 20 minutes later that this bag was actually our food after directly asking the service worker.
There was no communication, no acknowledgment, and the entire vibe made it very clear that we weren’t wanted there. Hoping it was just because they were about to close, I asked if the restaurant closed at 10 pm (@ around 9:55) He told me they actually close at 11. That confirmed the odd, passive-aggressive treatment had nothing to do with closing time.
The food might be fine, but the service was dismissive and unwelcoming enough that it ruined the experience. We won’t be back.

So glad we stopped here on our drive from NYC to Boston—it was absolutely worth it. The food was outstanding, and the service was both attentive and kind. The owner’s warmth and gratitude toward the community were truly heartwarming. It feels wonderful to support a small business run by people who give their all every day. I hope this becomes a little tradition for us every time we pass through.

This gentleman actually HAS GREEN AND RED CHILE! Not sure if Hatch or Bueno, but I don't even care. Coming from someone who grew up with Los Quates, it's the best damn New Mexican/Mexican food in the state!
