I have been searching for a crunchy, crusty bread for years. Being from NY, I've been spoiled. I stopped at the Glastonbury store and chose the sesame semolina loaf and a rustic ciabatta. Much to my disappointment neither have a crunchy crust. Why can't Connecticut make crusty bread?

I don’t usually eat at this place since I am plant based / GF and there are no options. However, in the month of August I went to the Hartford Baking CO Glastonbury branch to make a purchase for a patient. I purchased 2 loaves of their country sourdough bread. As I was paying, I mentioned to the cashier how sad it made me that they do not carry ANY options that would match my dietary restrictions. The girl kindly said that “they do offer a Gluten Free version of their country sourdough bread” as she handed it to me. I was stunned and asked again if she was 100% certain that bread was GF? She said “yes, absolutely”. I bought it and told her I’d be back for more. As I couldn’t be any happier, I told a few people around about this new discovery. The day later, as I was walking by the WeHa branch I decided to stop by and get some more. To my surprise, I was told that “country sourdough GF bread doesn’t exist”. I kindly mentioned that it does in the Glastonbury branch and that I purchased one a day earlier. A man approached the counter and he introduced himself as the supervisor for the Hartford area and he assured me there’s not such thing as GF bread in their stores. He treated me as I was crazy , let alone the fact that I was 9 months pregnant then and went to ask for a product that was sold to me at the offer location. And you would expect people to treat you nicer. Anyways, I left but was very upset at how I was treated. I called the Glastonbury branch right away and an employee took my name and promised a call back from the manager. Tracy, the manager, called weeks later. She had this attitude. I swear I could not believe this person. I kindly explained how I’m celiac, 9 months pregnant , broke into hives due to her employees negligence, and not only she did NOT apologize , she wanted to be right and make me believe this situation simply “didn’t happen”. That there’s no way someone would sell me a GF bread at their store etc etc. again. Basically told me I made the story up and was crazy. Just calling to complain for the sake of it … like I didn’t have more important things to do at 39 weeks pregnant. I understand mistakes do happen, but the inability of fixing them, or even apologizing it’s beyond my comprehension. Tracy talked on top of me and was extremely rude and condescending. I ended up hanging up and mentioned writing a review about the situation. Anyways, won’t ever step a foot again in these stores and spreading the experience around town as well. Very very disappointed!!!!
Please don’t ever change your caesar salad it’s to die for!!

Here goes my first experience with dine-in at this location.
Although the quality and taste of the food and drink was exceptional, the SERVICE was horrible! The dark haired, pulled back ponytail lady with glasses forgot my coffee even after I tipped the tip jar!
When I grabbed my food I asked about my coffee in which she did not apologize that It wasn't even made! She then goes to make it without saying anything, simply walked away. I wasn't sure what to do so I sat at my table to start eating and had to get up in the middle of my meal to go and pick it up.
Once again no acknowledgment of a mishap. I found it very rude. Although the food was great I won't dine in at this location again.
I understand that you are to sit once you have your food but you'd think that if it were their mistake of not MAKING the coffee in the first place that they'd show some sort of consideration anndddd bring it to your table. It wasn't busy in there at all.
I work in customer service and I would never have this kind of attitude. I'd be appalled at myself.
Because the food was delicious I will continue picking up.
Oh, and after calculating my bill (which I should have done while I was there) I got charged close to $23 for a breakfast burrito, caramel latte, chocolate milk and a croissant. I put the diet coca cola back in the cooler when I noticed that my child grabbed it before I paid but didn't notice that I got charged for that as I wasn't given a receipt.

Iced coffee tasted burnt but was also incredibly light. My double shot was super bitter and what few pastries they had looked like they’d been out for days. I asked the manager how often they bake and was told their commissary sends them certain items every 4-6 days and they wrap them at night to “stay fresh”. Eating our food indoors was impossible because the dining area felt like a sauna, thankfully we were able to eat outside instead which was actually more comfortable
EDIT: Just found out many of these reviews are fake seeing as how the MANAGER offered me free food if I published a 5 star review and showed it to them, not sketchy and unprofessional at all!

Came in to try their coffee after leaving Trader Joe’s which is right next to them. I bought a their medium roast coffee and two brownies. The coffee was watery and the brownies were dried out on the edges as if it were left out all morning. You can barely taste any chocolate in the brownies, probably one of the worst ones I’ve tried.

Love the breakfast sandwich, very tasty and one of the best I have ever had. I also have had their version of a Cuban sandwich, it was excellent. I also purchase their seeded rye bread, it is so good.I wish they offered a dark roast coffee.

Everybody is very nice but our chocolate croissant was completely dry and very pale, felt like it was yesterday’s pastry. The feuilletage was so dense and dry with no flavor of butter (in spite of advertising that they only use real butter.) Disappointed :(((
