Awesome food - brought our kids and they loved it too. Big portions, well cooked and great service. We are coming back!
Food and drinks were really good. We also enjoyed the atmosphere and live music on Sunday. I will be back.
We absolutely love the food at Bistro V - the service (specifically the host) ... not so much. We have had two instances where he has been incredibly rude and had waitresses put pressure and rush us out. Other than the service, the food ambience and drinks are incredible
French onion soup was rich and good. Duck and short rib boug. was both extremely dry, both entrees were basically left uneaten. Service is uneven, our server also served as a bartender.
i hesitate to write this review because i selfishly don't want this place to be discovered. Actually it's been there for decades but i was just introduced to it a few months ago, have been 7 times and can't wait to go back again - next time for brunch which i hear is a treat. Cafe V is a truly welcoming spot, wonderful European ambiance and the most gracious efficient staff you will find anywhere. I've been for lunch and dinner and it never seems crowded or rushed therefore the noise level is subdued esp compared to other places on a Sat night. The menus has a wide selection of uniformly delicious apps and entrees; everything my friends and i have ordered has been yummy. I especially love the blackened salmon salad; i could easily eat it every day but the buddha salad, the burgers and the other seafood is equally praiseworthy. And save room for dessert where Cafe V really excels- there is a huge selection of cakes, tarts and pastries all of it irresistible, esp the fruit tarts. The prices are quite reasonable esp for Greenwich and considering the caliber of the food and the overall wonderful experience I hope im not my own worst enemy in posting this review but Cafe V deserves to be singled out.
Wonderful lunch venue on Greenwich Ave. left us feeling as if we were truly in a French bistro. Food fabulous. Service impeccable, ambience lovely. We will be back again soon with more friends!
Dinner was delightful. The food and service were amazing. The staff's attention to a dairy allergy for one of our party was appreciated. We felt "served" but not rushed. It was a pleasure.
We had a late brunch and sat outside with our pet which we appreciated. Service and food were very good, nice atmosphere, relaxed and unpretentious. We will definitely visit again when in the area.
Service from primary waiter was awful, he was more interested in chatting people up at the bar and cleaning than waiting on us. I have been here several times, but won't go back, food quality and service both have totally gone down hill. There are better choices in Greenwich for sure.
Food was good but nothing I would need to go back again to. The Brussels sprouts were quite bland. I actually ended up bringing them home and cooking them with balsamic glaze, bacon and shallots myself.

Just wondering what kind of oil is used for the salad dressing if it's a seed oil or if it's olive oil. Also ambience, the silk ferns that are in a vase on the floor by the kitchen area look old and dusty - might need to be removed. ...a suggestion. Loved my salad nicoise, with grilled fresh tuna... wonder about the oil in the dressing...
Chocolate mousse was horrible

Solid classic dishes for any occasion! We enjoyed the appetizers and mains! I got the fish tacos which were nice! The chunky guacamole appetizer was a great starter. This is one of the better restaurants on Greenwich ave

August 2024 - Deciding to pick a different restaurant from our usual spot in Greenwich, we chose Bistro V. Described as a French restaurant, the menu is really not that French, but it does have something for everyone. Noon on a Saturday, the majority of my tablemates wanted brunch. One ordered the Eggs Benedict, which was cooked perfectly, in that for me, the eggs were not so runny the plate was full of yolk.
Another ordered the three egg omelette of the day which our wait staff told us there wasn't one but any of their many ingredients could be chosen to taste. The two cheeses offered were goat and cheddar. The meat option was bacon. Multiple vegetables were available. The omelette ingredients were cheddar, bacon, raw onion (over caramelized), mushrooms and green pepper. Seated in the middle of the room, I had a view of the kitchen, and was surprised to see a kitchen staff member pick up the upper fold of the omelette with a bare hand to see if the ingredients inside were correct, but since the person eating it after hearing this didn't care, I will leave it to readers if they do or not.
I chose the classic Croque Monsieur sandwich as the only item I could find that was actually French. All three dishes were satisfying. I'd say the Eggs Benedict was the winner. An omelette is an omelette, and my Croque Monsieur which I only ate half of was good, but I'm not sure I would order it again. The ham used was higher quality. All three meals came with mesclun.
In terms of drinks, they did not have the Heineken one of our party would have preferred, so he had a Corona they served with the proper glass and a slice of lime. My green gimlet was perfect with a crisp mint leaf floating on top. With my sandwich, I had a Lyons Sauvingnon Blanc that complimented my sandwich in the best way. We did not have a starter, dessert or coffee. The vibe is casual and easy. Staff is very attentive. Many paintings on the walls are for sale. There is outdoor seating on and off the sidewalk. A beautiful day, the outside area off the sidewalk with couches and tables was full.
