We’ve been loyal customers since this place opened and have always loved their ice cream, recommending it to friends often. Unfortunately, our last visit was very disappointing. My four-year-old urgently needed to use the bathroom and was refused because it’s “employees only,” with zero flexibility or empathy. We were even told not to try next door because “they won’t allow him”. A complete lack of common sense. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.
We had a great experience at GELATO&Cioccolato in Cos Cob, Greenwich. The store manager was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. She helped us pick our gelato during our visit and also took the time to explain options for event catering, which was super helpful.
She let us sample a few flavors so we could choose confidently, and the gelato was outstanding, easily some of the best in the area. The flavors are rich and creamy but not overly sweet, and they taste true to the ingredients, especially the fruit flavors and chocolate/dessert-style options.
The shop itself is very clean, well organized, and inviting. If you’re looking for great gelato in Greenwich / Cos Cob, this place is a must. Highly recommend.
My parents and I have been loyal customers for years, visiting every Friday night for gelato. On 11/14/25, we were running a couple of minutes late, so my mom called ahead to inform the employee working that night that we were on our way and would arrive just after closing.
We reached the door at 9:32 pm, but the lights were already off and the gelato trays were being removed. My mom explained through the door that I wanted to quickly purchase a gelato, but we were still denied entry, despite being recognized as weekly regulars.
What made this especially disappointing is the inconsistency. This same employee has made exceptions before—over the summer, while we were finishing our gelato, she allowed two customers to come in right at 9:30. So we know flexibility is possible when she chooses to extend it.
Additionally, we have supported this business through challenging times. When their gelato freezer broke down and they had to serve from a catering cart outside the storefront while waiting for a new freezer to arrive from Italy, we continued coming every week and purchasing gelato without complaint. Our loyalty has been long-standing and unwavering.
The employee smiled while refusing to let us in, which felt dismissive given our consistent patronage. After years of supporting this business, the experience was genuinely disheartening. It has made me reconsider returning, which is unfortunate considering how much we’ve spent there over the years.
If I were the owner, I would want to know that inconsistent service and a lack of consideration for loyal customers can have a real impact on long-term business.
The shop wasn’t open yet so we sat out front to eat our sandwiches. As they opened a gentleman came over and said we couldn’t sit there that it was for customers only. My husband said it was closed, but that we might get something now that they are open. And the guys said, well you haven’t bought anything yet. He literally just opened the doors. So my husband went in and ordered an affogato (a scoop of gelato with an espresso poured over). Even though the item was on the menu, the worker didn’t know how to make it and proceeded to scoop gelato, then fill the cup with regular coffee and stirred it around. My husband told her it was made incorrectly, but didn’t want to waste food, so he paid for it and took it. Honestly the mix wouldn’t have been so bad if the man hadn’t been so rude to us before we could we could even order.
great. yum. give me 2. the beautiful girl in front is kind.
Such a cute little shop with absolutely delicious hazelnut gelato! The only downside is the lack of nearby parking. Bonus: You can get their gelato delivered through GrubHub, which makes it extra convenient.

First it’s not real gelato though it does taste decent. I had chucks of ice like its was freezer burnt. Second, what’s up with the miserable older lady? It’s like I was a bother by coming in she had to come from the back and doing something. The few times I’ve been there only bc it’s down the street from me and I walk past there that old lady either hates her job, people or her life. If she was my employee she would have been long gone
Very good place with nice variety of Gelato. Fresh products and great flavors!!!
Very bad customer service , very disappointed
I visited the ice cream shop today, and sadly, the service did not meet expectations. The employee who assisted me had a negative attitude and was quite rude, which made the overall experience unpleasant and unsatisfying
