Great vibe and the food was good as well. However, the portions are smaller and it’s pretty expensive

FOOD POISONING. had dinner here last night (1/1) and haven’t been able to keep down food or liquids all day. I feel betrayed, since I wanted to be productive today, and you TOOK THAT FROM ME 😪 At least I will start this new year skinny! Skinny, but sad. I had the chili chicken (likely culprit-undercooked perhaps) and kale salad.

The menu is a bit odd for a Mexican inspired restaurant. The mushroom tostada was good but gave me such indigestion. The quesadilla with broccoli rabe was not bad but the price was a bit high. The highlight is the service! Everyone is really attentive without being obnoxious, I asked for tea service and they actually had a pot of hot water with tea bas, sugar and milk. I think it can be better but as a "chilango" or Mexican city born and raised man, was a bit disappointed.

Excellent flavors. The portion size was disappointing. Not enough food. Tacos were served (2) and very small.

Pretty restaurant with some interesting choices made. The food was not nearly as expected considering the name. I also don't understand the picture of Frita and the name just seems to be odd choices. I had the chicken and found it to be far too salty. If the business continues they really need some server friendly plates. They obviously picked them not thinking about how they would be handled. They practically need to drop the plate making a bang.

Excellent service and attention to detail. I sat at the bar and ordered 2 cocktails and appetizers. The garlic shrimp and octopus were delicious! The pomegranate tequila and mezcal margarita was well-balanced.

Love the atmosphere it was really quaint. And Christian was a great server. I even forgot the choros when I left and he ran after me to give me my plate to go. The ambiance is comfortable and casual. I had the fried fish taco. It was good but the cabbage on top was kind of tart but the espresso martini was good! Really like this place.

In total I’d rate this place a 8.48/10. The food was great, taste was unique as well. The music was quite loud which I wasn’t the biggest fan of, however the overall ambiance/lighting of the restaurant was great. Finally the food took quite a while to get delivered to our table, and compared to the quantity it felt a little too long, hence the deduction in rating. Overall, the food was great, and this place may be better for a larger party. 8.48/10, would recommend :)

Husband and I have dined at Happy Monkey a few times now. Most recently we had the pleasure of meeting Chef Ron.
Lovely, personable, and clearly talented guy. He recognized our interest and took the time to explain the dishes and ingredients in detail - something we both love learning about.
Restaurant was lively but not overwhelming. Front staff was pleasant. Food was tasty and cocktails are great.

We'll definitely be back for the illusive happy hour empanadas we heard so much about.

Additional kudos to the petite woman buser (can't remember her name) who, with a friendly disposition, flitted through the dining room like an unobtrusive bumblebee to flowers. No dirty plate or empty water glass was safe!

I wish I had pictures to share but the food was delicious and the restaurant had a fun vibe! We started with great margaritas and chips/guac/homemade salsas. Our favorite dishes were the tuna tartar lettuce cups, arroz con pollo, and crispy seafood rice. The service was excellent too! Very attentive. We will definitely be back.
