Dinner was good until a loud surprise party arrived. They did their best to keep it contained to a separate space with a door, however, it was still loud at times. Loved the beets & burrata salad!

The food was delicious every time. The service was great most of the time but on two occasions they might have been short staffed or maybe there was a rush of customers and service was a tad slow. You could see the staff was making every effort to speed things up. They were extremely kind and very helpful. I would definitely go back, just not if I'm in a big rush.

Understaffed, the bartender was also waitressing tables. Appetizers were so/so, dinner food was very good. Had to ask the bus boy for a dessert menu. Very loud with the bar in the main dining room.

The food was delicious, but unfortunately the time it took to deliver our wine was unacceptable. After waiting more than 15 minutes to order a bottle of wine and then after another 10 minutes or so to be told it was not chilled therefore having to order a different bottle, to which we then waited a further 10 minutes to be informed this also was not chilled but they were chilling as quickly as possible, by this stage we were definitely not happy but accepted that we had no option but to take it. All in all it took 40 minutes to receive our wine. In the end the restaurant did kindly provide our wine at no charge, but surely it shouldn't take this amount of time to put a drink on the table. I don't understand why if you have white wine on the beverage list you don't have it available in the refrigerator.

I recently arranged a surprise anniversary breakfast for guests staying at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa, and the experience with Helmsman Kitchen was simply wonderful. From the very beginning, Rafael was incredibly helpful in taking my order and ensuring every detail was just right. The breakfast arrived beautifully presented, and the food was absolutely delicious. The couple was delighted and truly touched by the thoughtful surprise. Thank you to the Helmsman Kitchen team for helping make this special occasion even more memorable!

Took my wife there for her Birthday Dinner. Very disappointed. Service was almost non existant. Wanted to raise a flag so we could finally order a drink but there was not one wait staff in the whole room to see it for a long time. Finally placed our order and then waited... and waited. Asked for some bread and was quickly told: "We don;t do bread". And waited some more. Meals arrived and they were so salty you really could not taste anything but the salt. After they cleared the meal, we were immediately presented with the check. Didn't even ask if we were interested in desert of coffee! The check listed two drinks that were not ordered and a charge for $57. for the pork chop (not $37. it looked like on the menu. After rechecking the menu it was in fact $57. but VERY hard to tell and certainly not worth it for a $4.00. pork chop that was too salty to eat! Marriott used to have high standards, but I guess things have changed.

Arrived in town and craving a good chowder. While here we also ordered the crab cakes and grilled swordfish. Done to perfection with excellent seasoning. Heirloom tomato and watermelon salad was a great starter. This hotel restaurant did not disappoint.

This was once called Octagon. The Helmsman is beautiful and wonderful seating. Anything for the adventurous pallet is on the menu. Lovely place to eat and get some drinks.

So we have been here before extremely disappointed this time. We canceled our reservations in mystic because upon looking at the menu we found things we would enjoy! We both ordered NY strip because the Ribeye had garlic butter we don't like That and when out steaks came there was garlic butter neither of us are a fan but the menu didn't state it was in the steak. Our waitress did check back but it was 10-+ minutes after we had gotten our food we were hungry and scraped it if but unfortunately neither of us ate even 1/2 of our stea was very over powered w garlic. She wasn't the one to remove our plates an assistant was but he should. noticed the plates were barly touched and reported it to the waitress she never asked how the food was we declined desert and got the check. Very very very disappointed!

I'm going to start off by saying, the kitchen ran into some issues the night we came here, but our server, Olivia, made up for it! I've been in the industry for the past 20 years and she was, by far, one of the best servers I think I have ever had. She was apologetic and fun. She made sure we didn't need anything while they dealt with kitchen issues. To be honest, she was way more impressive, apologetic and willing to help than the manager on duty. She was just an absolute delight and I will absolutely give this place another chance solely because of her!
