“Was very disappointed when we took friends of ours there and told them how good the bread was but when we ordered from Jack was told the bread now costs and yet we were there two weeks ago and bread was offered. Also we had to ask Jack what the specials were and he acted put out. What a change from two weeks ago with waiter Greg who was awesome”

“I’m not one to go to Italian restaurants because my expectations are elevated and I’m usually disappointed, but this one is truly my first chef’s kiss! 👨‍🍳💋 If you go, be prepared… it’s a little pricy, but I’ve no issues with paying for an exemplary meal. -Veronica makes both red & white sangrias and they are the BEST in SE Ct!! -every dish, and I mean every.single.plate is made by one chef, Carmine (not a team of kitchen staff) so you’ll be waiting a bit, but I promise, it’s worth the wait. -the menu is authentic Italian cuisine. We tried the octopus salad, spaghetti carbonara, chicken marsala, penne boscaiola, and Sam had penne & meatballs. All of these dishes were fresh and clean tasting and full of flavor. You can honestly taste the love. We all felt as if we were in their home. -get the tiramisu! With the first bite, you can tell it’s homemade and literally, it’s phenomenal! Veronica & Carmine are a beautiful, talented couple from a tiny island off Sicily. They both worked in restaurants in New Haven and brought their culinary expertise to Groton. I don’t do restaurant shout outs often, but this one deserves all the business!! Get the word out and go! ❤️”

“We just took my daughter for her 17th birthday, she originally wanted sushi. She looked at the menu and immediately changed her mind and chose to try her first seafood boil! She absolutely LOVED IT! The servers are fast and friendly and the food is GREAT! She chose snow crab legs and black mussels, my boyfriend had a crab cluster combo and I had a sausage boil combo. Everything was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. We will 100% be coming back!!!! Highly recommend!”

“What a great place!!! I had sautéed portobello mushroom spinach and cheese sandwich which was delicious. They also had something I’ve never seen fluffernutter ice cream which was amazingly delicious. The place was adorable with the soda counter brought back lots of good memories. I love the sign that said no WiFi talk to someone :)”

“Had a nice birthday lunch there and tried the excellent Scallops with mushroom risotto. Soups and desserts all made in house. I enjoyed my meal looking out at the water. The restaurant has been remodeled and is beautifully decorated.”

“My boyfriend and I are hitting lots of bars in the Groton area as we are looking to get a house soon! Visited this place just once and instantly became a favorite. Owner was SO cool and chatty with us, and the locals as well! Pool was a lot of fun! Amazing and welcoming atmosphere for a young couple. We’ll be back!”

“Not much to look at from the outside, but very deceiving. Our dinner was excellent. My husbands muscles were served perfectly. And, I had the best and most unusual salad. And our server, Adam, was by far the best ever. Olio is lucky to have him.”

“I found this hidden gem while on a vacation staying in Groton, CT. Awesome atmosphere and I am telling you some amazing food to be served from a bar. I ordered a hot ham and cheese grinder. It was Cinco de Mayo so I drank Margaritas. They were delicious and they had a full liquor bar. The bartender was super nice and personable. They have a lot of Navy and submen patrons due to its to the base. They have TVs and pool tables and a very fun bar atmosphere. Pop in and have some good drinks and food. They also have an outsubmeneating area.”

“Lovely meal, as always (very delicious pork tenderloin) atmosphere and staff are great, however, after ordering a scotch on the rocks, we were VERY surprised to be charged $2.75 for the 'rocks'!! The ice in the water is free, and there's complimentary bread and oil, so charging for 3 ice cubes seemed pretty stiff. Lesson learned - next time (and there will be a next time, because this is a great restaurant) we'll use the rocks that come free in the water!”

“We went for dinner tonight and had an amazing experience. The staff was super friendly, he helped us navigate the menu and made great suggestions. We got a combo platter so we could share and try it all. The meat melted in your mouth and the flavor was so good. We will definitely be back!”

“I ordered from here via DoorDash due to the high ratings. I am visiting from out of town and always like to try new sushi places when I travel. I ordered the Angel Hair Roll, Tri Color Sashimi, and a side of spicy mayo.
The Angel Hair Roll was a good portion. The Tri Color Sashimi I was throughly impressed. It was a bigger portion than it appeared to advertise on the menu. The raw fish melted in my mouth, and it was flavorful and fresh. Very impressed and would order these items again. My to go order came with free miso soup, and lots of soy sauce packets. I would recommend this spot.”

“Went for lunch on a week day. Hostess was on the phone had to wait to be seated. A wait: to receive menu, get beer, order food and receive food. After server cleared some dishes waited for bill. Server was BSing 5 minutes with a customer leaving. Total time spent waiting a bit over 35 minutes out of a total spent there, one hour and 15 minutes.”

City of Groton, CT I am so glad that I was tipped off about this small spot by a fan because I have just discovered another 'Big Al's 💎 Gem Spot'. I walked into a warm welcome from the owner Margaret, who was also my server and she was such a sweet lady with a great personality. She was so friendly and great with all her customers and I sat there smiling the whole time. Buford's does not have a huge FB following with just over 1k followers but it is truly an Amazing Hidden 💎 Gem breakfast spot of Groton!❤️ I walked in the door ready to eat so I ordered and reviewed a couple popular menu items: 1. Western Omelet w/Home fries & wheat toast $13.00 💣 2. Buford's Big Breakfast w/pancakes $13.20 💣 The service and atmosphere of Buford's is very laid back, comfortable and when it comes to the food they don't disappoint! I started with the Western Omelet and I ate quite a bit of it because it was the bomb 💣 I knew that I couldn't finish all the food so I moved on to those fluffy delicious pancakes with two easy over eggs, Home fries, crispy bacon and sausage patty. It was all amazingly Dope and easily earned a bomb 💣 as well! I had an amazing experience at Buford's and I understand why the fans have shared great experiences dining there. “We were vacationing in Mystic for a long weekend and Outer Light came recommended as a brewery to stop by in the area and it did not disappoint. Kurt was bartending and was awesome to chat with. I work in the brewing industry in Pennsylvania and was excited to see their set up. He gave me a short tour of the facilities and told me about their brews and cycles. It was a great experience and awesome beers. The vibes were solid, and we had a great time.”

“I've always loved going to Jersey Mike's because rheir food is so good but yesterday was different. I ordered online and when I got home after a very long day at work my order was completely wrong. I ordered a number 17 and whatever I got had buffalo sauce which I clearly didn't ask for. when I called they offered for me to go back the same night and they'll remake it but it was late and I didn't want to have to drive all the way back. I was so disappointed because I've never had an issue with them before.”
