“Barbary is our favorite spot. We’ve now been 4 times in the past year. Now when we go other places my husband and I agree that we should have gone back to Barbary Coast!”

“Just enjoyed amazing cocktails (Gimlet and Curry Barbados) and Nosh (mushrooms had amazing flavor, Korean fried chicken sandwich, salty and delicious, empanadas crisp and yummy) from their Happy Hour menu which is being expanded from 4:00 to 6:00. On Tuesday starting at 6:30 or 7:00 is a jazz quartet which we sadly had to miss but will definitely be back. Our waitress Claire was darling and very informative. Bartender was spectacular!”

“The Shipwright's Daughter came highly recommended to us by locals we had talked with while vacationing in Mystic, and it did not disappoint. We booked a reservation for 7:15pm on a Saturday evening, and we were seated promptly at 7:15. From the hosts initial greeting, to our server first introducing herself at the table, every staff member made us feel welcomed. It was lovely. The cocktail my girlfriend ordered and the local draft I ordered were both outstanding. Our appetizers of Oysters on the Half Shell and a Yellowfin Tar Tar served on a Potato Pavé, were both so delicious, full of flavor, and beautiful. Our entrees consisted of the Zucchini Bucatini and the Duck Confit special, and both came out perfect. The seasoning, the cook of the duck, the plating were all immaculate. It's very clear the staff takes pride in their work, and make sure the guests have an outstanding experience. We finished with dessert, a Plum Sorbet Pavlova with a Peach Reduction, an Espresso Martini, and an Irish Coffee. We were finished with our meal and drinks and on our way by 8:20pm. All in all, it was the best experience I've had in a restaurant. The meals were phenomenal, the staff was top tier ( I apologize I can not remember our waitresses name, but she was outstanding), and the overall experience was more than I could have hoped for. If you are traveling to the mystic area, and you want to have an outstanding dining experience, this is the place for it”

“So very disappointed. Was there with a disabled person and treated terribly by customers and wait staff. Food was not good and service was terrible. Have been there previously and had a much better experience. I am not sure what changed but definitely will not go back or recommend this place if the same rude waitress is there. So very disappointed.”

“We went there with expectations to get just a lobster roll, and we did that but they offer much more. The lobster roll flight was fantastic. The bread was so soft and lightly toasted to perfection. The lobster was fresh and delicious. They also have kid’s tenders and hot dogs. The lemonade was even tasty! Highly recommend!”

“We ordered take from from Rio Salado this evening and it was delicious. The manager (Katie) was a doll. She took our order and every request for substitutions or additional food was not a problem. The wait staff is personal able and the restaurant is lovely. We plan on ordering again and look forward to having dinner at the restaurant. So if your looking for delicious Mexican food served by polite staff in a nice restaurant, this is the place for you.”

“My husband and I visited S & P Oyster Co. on our honeymoon, and it truly could not have been a more exquisite experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm, inviting, and perfect for a special occasion. We started with fresh oysters on the half shell, pan-seared octopus, and pan-seared scallops, each dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely outstanding. For our entrées, we enjoyed the sesame-encrusted yellowfin tuna and the homemade squid ink pasta, both of which were exceptional in flavor and quality. Our waiter, Jeff, made the night even more memorable. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and kind, offering wonderful recommendations and never rushing us. The drinks were fantastic as well and complemented the meal perfectly. S & P Oyster Co. gave us a honeymoon dinner we will never forget. We can’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to return. We make it a point to come every year!”

“Beautiful restaurant with amazing service and food. We tried 4 different sushi rolls. They were all delicious and unique. I highly recommend the spicy girl roll! Also, the cappuccino truffle for dessert was so yummy and perfect for sharing with friends. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice with lovely decorations. We will be back!”

“A lovely bakery and coffee shop worth the visit

Sift Bake Shop is a really nice coffee shop and bakery. The coffee was great, and the baked goods were beautiful and delicious. It’s clear why it’s such a popular spot.

One tip: mornings can get quite busy, but later in the day it’s much calmer and easy to get whatever you want without the wait. Either way, it’s worth stopping by. We would definitely recommend Sift Bake Shop to anyone visiting Mystic!”

“What an excellent experience we had last night! The restaurant is decorated beautifully for the holiday season. We sat at the bar & had impeccable service. The food was outstanding. The homemade bread and flavored butter -- just yum!! Calamari was cooked to perfection and the seafood pasta dish was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to return!!”

“Great lunch! The price point is spot on for the quantity & especially quality of the fish. The local catch of the day for the fish & chips was Red Drum. Excellently seasoned batter & tasty flakey fillets. The fries were just the right amount of crispy & the salt & vinegar onion rings were def ride or die! Possibly the only fish & chip experience I’ve had that there was no need for any condiments. Well done to Peter & his amazing team. Looking forward to tautog & blackfish season showing up on the menu.”

“This is a must stop place to visit! The baked goods, everything is so delicious the best cider doughnuts ever eaten 🤤 😋…Not only is this place educational for watching and learning how cider is made the old fashioned way but because the ppl are so amazingly friendly its family owned and 3 Generations work on the grounds and love what they do! I personally met and spoke to 2 of many, John who is in the mill making the cider and will tell you all you need to know about it. As well as Amy (Nurse on site, John’s sister and her mom makes the cider doughnuts, she goes in at 3am to do so😳) who was so friendly and helpful she and some of the workers and some patrons helped my father,who has an inner ear issue with vertigo. Came on all of a sudden right at the register these ppl were so helpful and came to his aid got him to a chair during this scary 😟 time for him. I can’t thank them enough but go show your support and enjoy some hard cider 🍺 and pick up wine and apple pie 🥧 for home! Dogs 🐶 are welcome!! “One of my favorite local spots! Fun atmosphere and great food with indoor and outdoor dining and a great beer selection. . My family loves the charcuterie pretzel and their burgers. The corn bread is a must try.”

Don't be fooled by the outdated signage and random location - this is a hidden gem amongst what are otherwise overpriced tourist trap eateries in the greater Mystic / Groton area. There is a single table for eating in, so plan on grabbing your dinner to go.

We truly don't understand how this place isn't top rated; the portions are generous, the food is seasoned and prepared to perfection, and the service is incredibly quick! Every single dish we got was fantastic, no notes.”

“Best cold pressed juices! I’m a new Weekly “stopper”. I place an order on line generally 24hours prior to pick up. (So easy to order) pick up being just as quick and easy. Staff is always so kind and accommodating!! To be 💯 honest, these are THE FRESHEST juices around! I have tried many other cold pressed juices and these are not comparable!!! Karma uses fresh ingredients and the difference is in every sip! Literally Karma Kitchen juices WELL SURPASS ALL OTHER JUICES I’ve tried! No turning back!! I’m so grateful I found this place! 🥕🥒”

Power went out in the entire building but this guys register had a backup battery and instead of telling everybody sucks to suck we're closed he's still slinging sandwiches and running cards. If it looks like they're packed and long wait, go in anyway, the place is huge. It happened to us and there were plenty of tables/booths available.”

“Came here for the museum’s member appreciation day, and the Tavern was serving complimentary snacks. I didn’t get the name of the person working behind the bar making drinks that night, but he was working alone and despite it being really busy (and hectic), he was patient, polite and funny with everyone there. While my family sat outside at one of the tables to enjoy the music, he brought out a fresh batch of hot pretzels that he had just made and he gave it to us, and another table. We all sat and watched the sunset while enjoying music, and delicious pretzels!”

Here’s how it all went down: 1️⃣ Wood-Fired Wings (Buffalo) - $15.95 BOMB! 💣 Eight perfectly wood-fired wings- crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with buffalo sauce that hits just right. The blue cheese dressing deserves its own shoutout 💣😎 2️⃣ Oma’s Real Meatball Sandwich- $17.50 BOMB! 💣 These wood-roasted, hand-rolled meatballs were full of flavor and smothered in rich pomodoro sauce, tucked inside toasted rustic bread with melted provolone and parmesan. It comes with potato chips and a fresh crunchy pickle. 3️⃣ Small Mango’s Mozzarella Pie- ½ Mozzarella/Funky Monkey- $19.95 💣 DOUBLE BOMB! The cheese half? The best cheese pizza I’ve had on this side of the Thames River, perfect crust, flawless sauce-to-cheese ratio. The Funky Monkey half? 💣💣 DOUBLE BOMB!
