Here’s how it all went down: 1️⃣ Wood-Fired Wings (Buffalo) - $15.95 BOMB! 💣 Eight perfectly wood-fired wings- crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with buffalo sauce that hits just right. The blue cheese dressing deserves its own shoutout 💣😎 2️⃣ Oma’s Real Meatball Sandwich- $17.50 BOMB! 💣 These wood-roasted, hand-rolled meatballs were full of flavor and smothered in rich pomodoro sauce, tucked inside toasted rustic bread with melted provolone and parmesan. It comes with potato chips and a fresh crunchy pickle. 3️⃣ Small Mango’s Mozzarella Pie- ½ Mozzarella/Funky Monkey- $19.95 💣 DOUBLE BOMB! The cheese half? The best cheese pizza I’ve had on this side of the Thames River, perfect crust, flawless sauce-to-cheese ratio. The Funky Monkey half? 💣💣 DOUBLE BOMB! “Ordered the fish and chips and a white clam strip pizza. It was among one of the best fish and chips I have had, it was fried very well, not having any sort of nasty fried flavor, and the fish was nice and tender. However, learn from my mistakes and ask for some vinegar/and or hot sauce if you are getting the fish and chips. I wasn't thrilled about the pizza, I felt it was a little bland and too heavy at the same time, however as the pizza came after the fish and chips i may have just been too full to appreciate. However if i came again i would get the red sauce version instead.“

The sandwich was loaded with fresh deli meats, perfectly sliced cheese, crisp lettuce, and ripe tomatoes, all brought together with just the right amount of oil and seasoning. What really stood out was the size. This thing was huge and easily one of the most filling sandwiches I’ve had in a while. You definitely get your money’s worth.

“Travel around CT constantly for work and stopped into Gold Star Pizzeria for a quick lunch. Got the turkey bacon lettuce ranch wrap combo with fries for $13—definitely a solid deal. “My son Zak and I had lunch here today. This was our first time and it won't be our last. I had heard so much about this place I just had to check it out. It was a quiet afternoon and not too busy. Our server was also the bartender, service was fast, friendly and pleasant. The menu is HUGE as is the specials board and their favorites. I started out with a huge bowl of delicious steamers. They came with a bowl of what I believe to be broth to rinse the steamers in and another bowl of melted butter to dip those delicious steamers in. Next I ordered the fried whole belly clams. Out came a mountain of deliciousness that was NOT over fried. They were tender and sweet and oh so good. They came with another mountain of thick French fries and creamy tartar sauce. My son Zak ordered the Shepard's pie. He got a ginormous plate of good looking Shepard's pie with three thick slices of Italian bread. We both totally enjoyed our meals but there was so much that we were both too full to finish. So we both took home a good amount of yummy leftovers. We will definitely return to try more of their interesting menu items. I'm definitely interested in trying the soupy pizza.🍕“

Tables stayed busy, the bar stayed active, conversations were happening everywhere, and the whole restaurant just had that cozy lively Saturday night atmosphere 😎 And let me say this too… The music in here was PERFECT 😎🔥 They were playing great classics all evening from Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Hall & Oates, etc. My server Sarah did a really great job throughout the night too 👏🏾 She was friendly, attentive, welcoming, and handled the busy dining room really well. “I'm in the top 5% of pizza restaurant reviewers on Google and I dont give out 5 stars easily. I have been to Fireside Brick Oven a handful of times over the years. The food was always good , but it used to take a LONG time to get our food, especially with a large party. They revamped since I was in there last. The place looks cleaner and the layout improved. Somehow, the food also improved, which is saying something because it was always great. The service and the time it took to get our food (party of 20) also drastically improved. I always knew this place had potential, and I'm so glad they figured it out.

There are some contenders in Eastern, CT, but right now I think Fireside might be king. 👑
