Gorgeous French pastries that taste as good as they look, and a beautiful interior. It was tough to choose, but eventually I picked this exquisite orange pistachio pastry. Pistachio financier with pistachio ganache, orange vanilla pastry cream and pistachio Bavarian. Heavenly ??This great pastry shop is the perfect way to start your day in Mystic. “This place definitely exceeded expectations. What we thought was a traditional small brewery turned out to be more of a hub for a bunch of microbreweries. They have a solid selection of beers from local breweries around the area but the food was a great standout. This might sound silly but their French fries are by far the best I’ve had anywhere and their cinnamon sugar pretzel bites was a mound of deliciousness easily more than enough for two and realistically 4 people. We ended up sharing ours with the tables to the left and right of us. ?“

Shunock River Brewery and Village Cafe Brewery • $$
2 Wyassup Rd, North Stonington - 7.47 miles

“Shunock River Brewery And River Cafe stands out because it is inclusive to everyone- no weird looks that I noticed to me or other segregated groups and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This place’s hours range from the earliest to latest dinners, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The food is very affordable and if reviewed, I have no doubt that Michelin would give it a “Bib Gourmand” badge. This place is well known for their pizza and for a good reason- pizza is made inside a historic brick column with many ingredients being local. All minors in my family were given delicious cookies upon entry. Not one employee there was even slightly bitter and half the employees were smiling even without guests around. Unique brewery made beer available on tap. Smoking guidelines are unclear and unenforced. Live music occurs twice a week. If you come here consider joining the “mug club” it is a subscription where you have a designated chilled mug that is easy to get to and you can get free beers!Food just as good as environment and all food is made after order.Summary: get your butt up and come here“

“Food was overall good. Went for the clam fritters and they were incredibly disappointing. Fritter was WAY too tough and made it a chore to chew. We didnt finish them because they were that bad. There was very little clam inside. Definitely would NOT order again. My husband got the whole belly clams and they were fresh and delicious but not cheap. Worth it in my opinion. I got the shrimp po'boy and it was good, but I didn't love the bread (very chewy and seemed to overpower the shrimp).“

Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island Brewery • $
63 Canal St, Westerly - 7.27 miles

“We had an unforgettable experience! It was a snowy Saturday in late February when we arrived. We indulged in a variety of IPAs at this charming classic home, built in the 18th century New England style. The layout was superb, offering plenty of tables and seats to choose from. The bartender, Justin, proudly informed us that all the murals were original, leaving us in awe! They were reminiscent of the Wadsworth Atheneum (CT), showcasing their age and historical significance. Whether you’re here for the beer or not, this building is worth exploring with its iconic status. What an incredible opportunity to tour such a historic gem! We’ll definitely return to enjoy more delicious beer.“

“Fabulous antique home with many seating options both inside and out. Interesting architecture inside and great picnic vibe outside. The beer menu was diverse from DIPAs to NWIPA to sours and cider. I found the NEIPA to be very good with grapefruit undertones. But the cream ale was middle of the road to in my opinion. The inside was fun and comfortable, until we were driven outside by a woman at the next table whose volume rose increasingly. It would have been fine but she was excruciatingly boring. In the end I want to thank her. The outside was delightful!! You can bring in your own food, and there is a lot of seating. Overall a great experience!!!“

“Found this place by accident while waiting for a train, and what a jewel of a find it is. We got there right after it opened and it was quiet, but quickly a few regulars showed up and the atmosphere couldn't have been better. The bartender was nice, funny, and made us feel as welcome as the regulars at the bar too. The decor and just overall vibe was stellar. I can only imagine how great it would be during peak hours with more people and live music. It is on the smaller side, so I can imagine it gets crowded, but that's half the charm of a hole-in-the-wall spot like this“
