“Feels Like Home – Amazing Cantonese Food! Golden Palace in Connecticut is hands down one of the best Cantonese restaurants I’ve been to. Their dim sum is so authentic — just like the kind you’d get in Hong Kong or southern China. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with real care. What really makes this place special is the people. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming — every time I come here, I feel like I’m back home in China. It’s that kind of warm, family-style hospitality that’s hard to find these days. Whether you’re craving dim sum or a comforting Cantonese meal, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend!”

“Love Ballo but really disappointed with how much the menu keeps changing. They charge now for house bread and took off the garlic bread. Got rid of shrimp scampi. Now got rid of chicken francaise which was Amazing there and our go to. Also used to have an amazing cheese and meat platter appetizer and that was removed. Wish some of those would be put back on. With so much change there really isn’t anything appealing to me now. This was our spot for anniversaries, birthdays, and lots of date nights.”

“Ice cream was delicious! But what really stood out was the service. My son has a nut allergy. We let Gabby know when we ordered. She got a new box of ice cream, a new scooper from the back and opened a new package of spoons. She was very helpful and made sure my son enjoyed his ice cream safely. Highly recommend!”

Perfectly cooked chicken, crisp lettuce, better than any sit down restaurant. Great venue for bands, including Aquanett who gave a great concert on 4/18/26.”

Coffee comes strong and a tall coffee is exactly that! They also ensure you do not burn your hands. Is often a very cheerful lady (with a great taste in Puerto Rican music) there whose politeness and level of service is extraordinary”

“Oriental Bar and Grill is tucked behind another building in Connecticut in a way that makes it genuinely easy to miss from the road. The exterior is intriguing, with waterfalls and small ponds with koi fish out front.

The interior is large and classically decorated, the kind of dining room that was built to handle volume without feeling like a cafeteria. The koi fish out front have a quarter machine nearby that dispenses food, which is a small detail that tends to land well if you are visiting with kids. The overall setup is comfortable and well maintained, and the space gives the restaurant a presence that most Chinese restaurants in the area do not match.

The dim sum is the main draw and it is served until 3pm, so timing your visit accordingly is important. The har gow and shumai are well executed and hold up against what you would find at comparable restaurants in Boston or New York. The chili oil is good and worth using liberally. The shrimp wonton noodle soup is a standout and worth ordering on its own. For those coming outside dim sum hours the full menu covers a solid range of Cantonese dishes. The fried rice, salt and pepper squid, fish filet in chili oil, and chow fun all perform well, and the portions throughout are generous enough that ordering with a group and sharing makes the most sense.

On quieter days the food quality is noticeably more consistent. For good dim sum in Connecticut and a Cantonese dining room that takes the food seriously, it is worth the effort of finding.”

“Some of the best picture perfect Chinese food I’ve ever had! The pork and shrimp wonton soup had actual homemade wontons and was very delicious. The general tso chicken was crispy and very flavorful the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to return. Side note the portions are massive and in turn the prices are a bit up there but you definitely get what you pay for so go with a group of people.”

“I really enjoyed Nouvelle,the atmosphere is great, it's very low key ,but chic, and I loved the food! I had the steak and a salad ,it was delicious!My friend had the chicken Parmigiano, he had red wine,and I had a great Reisling wine. He used Mohegan Choice credits to pay,and the equivalent would be approximately $50 each for dinner and $150 for the wine. A bit on the high side,but if you are looking for an elegant ,but slightky casual place,its romantic and at the same time has gambling rooms for larger groups ,and machines inside! Twice they've had live music,on the weekend, sort of jazz. The service was excellent, and timely and the dessert was excellent.”
