I love all the local coffee shops but not this one. We came in and the woman working stared at us. No greeting , no can I help you, literally staring .Coffee was fine but the medium was the size of a small at any other shop.I ve never been to a local coffee shop where the person working didn’t greet me.No thanks after we paid. I said have a nice day and no reply. If two extremely small coffees are going to cost over 7.00 a smile goes a long way .Won’t return . Too many other awesome places in Hamden to waste time at a place where you don’t feel welcome .

So many fun events!
My husband and I were in town in business, googled “best coffee place nearby”, and Cantean popped up with excellent reviews. We were charmed by the easy, comfortable vibe walking in, and by the friendly greeting we received. We decided to share a sandwich, which turned out to be substantial and scrumptious: plenty of ham and Brie with a nice thick layer of fresh spinach, on a wonderful Peasant bread. John got coffee, and I had a beautiful matcha latte, finishing things off with a couple of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Everything was beautifully prepared and wrapped, with the perfect number of napkins included, at a very reasonable price. We very much enjoyed the experience at Cantean Coffee and Tea, and happily recommend it to everyone!

I enjoyed going here with my toddler this morning. We split a cookie and a water. The bathrooms are clean and one of the two is very spacious, perfect for wheelchairs or a family to use. Cashier is friendly and helpful. Plenty of seating inside or outside.
Like a coffee shop from the 90s with art and cool housewares you can buy and eclectic furniture, but still really good coffee like we expect in this millennium.

Great little coffeeshop, perfect addition to the spring glen community
Parking: Excellent service, very helpful to let me know & explain beverages & food . Coffee was great. Purchased both cinnamon & cheese monkey breads that were sinfully delicious plus a chocolate croissant. All were so flaky, fresh, & buttery. Very friendly & warm atmosphere. Step out of your comfort zone from the chain places & see what this has to offer!
