I was my first time there. When you enter your greated at the door by a friendly staff, promptly your seated and given some home made nachos with salsa and bean dip, they arrive warm and really crispy, the atmosphere is quite pleasant the staff is always on point asking weather you need anything and how is your service experience. I got into a small conversation with one of the waiters and mentioned i was there for my birthday only to be surprised by a big sombrero and a staff singing to me. I was in shock but very happy they served me a complimentary dessert as well as complimentary ceviche made of tilapia fish. I must warn you if you go here please go hungry because the portions are ridiculously huge. I didnt give 5 stars because i plan on visiting again then i will edit my review accordingly

All in all, it was an underwhelming experience. Everything I had was under seasoned and bland. The queso fundido was a pile of shredded cheese that was heated over jalapeño peores and chorizo. It did not taste like anything. You couldn't even taste the jalapeños. Our table wasn't the only table disappointed with this appetizer. The mole enchiladas were also under seasoned and bland. Usually mole has a strong taste profile, but this mole tasted watered down. The chicken inside the enchiladas were bland as well. The flan was the wrong consistency and was having a hard time staying together. The taste of the flan was bland so you couldn't even taste it over the chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, or the whipped cream on top. The best thing we had was house margarita. It was smooth and refreshing, though I couldn't really taste much of the alcohol. There are better Mexican restaurants that charge less for the quality of the food here.
Good vibes, the food was delectable and the portions were generous. The salsa really sucked and if the salsa sucks at a Mexican restaurant I can't give it 5 stars and sleep at night, so for me, 4 stars.

This restaurant definitely exceeds its reputation! The food is delicious and is served quickly and fresh. I don't usually eat refried beans because they can have a pasty texture but these were creamy and delicious. The two gentlemen that served me were friendly and charismatic. We drive down here from Madison bc it’s better than any Mexican food near us. Truly worth the drive, the food is always flavorful and plentiful; we usually order a dish to go for later as well. The service is always excellent: quick, attentive, and friendly. Ixtapa, please open another location up near Madison, we love you!
Their flank steak is delicious. I went on a weekday, so it was pretty empty. This is why I don't know much about the atmosphere. The place is clean. The tables were refurbished.
