Order here from time to time, but my last couple orders were wrong…. And instead of letting me know that there’s a wait for a certain item, they will not tell you and just give you something you didn’t want. My last time there I placed a special order for some chicken. Because the last order before that was wrong. I decided to check my bag this time to insure I got what I ordered. I checked and guess what. Order was wrong again. I walk inside the store and tell the clerk that my order was wrong, she tells me, that’s there is a seven minute wait for my pieces of chicken… Mrs… you could of just told me there was a wait time for my order….

Between 7:30 pm and 7:45 pm on Thursday March 13th 2025 I had one of the worst interactions at this Popeyes than I ever had in all the years I have been coming here. I’m a loyal customer and have witnessed multiple management overhauls and new employees hired to make this business remain great. I think one of the root causes of the issue I came across tonight was with the drive thru area. I own a large pickup truck and I’m not sure if the drive thru sensors can detect that my vehicle is there. I’ve experienced this twice in the past few days. Possibly an upgrade to the drive through area is needed. It caused an unnecessary elongated delay that held up other cars behind me as well! Then, when I drove to the window to find out if it drive microphones were malfunctioning I get a manager who tells me there’s nothing they can do and that I would have to go around again. I beckoned her to please understand that I watched many cars in front of me drive off while I waited patiently at the menu awaiting someone to take my order and she immediately walks away to continue working the lobby area and sent someone to translate that there was no other choice but to go back around. Naturally I became frustrated because if a manager had to send a team member to de-escalate a situation that could have easily been resolved by her simply taking the order then that team member should be the manager and not the person trusted to run a shift.

So I go inside to order and asked for my order to be taken and to speak to the manager the manager says that she is too busy as she is standing in front of me with her back turned towards me standing still. As this point, she was avoiding accountability and resolve. There was one person who was waiting for their order to be handed out and she walked away again and then started laughing and speaking in a different language mocking the situation in front of a group of team members who is confused as to why she was behaving weird. The employee who took charge was very polite and I wish I was not so frustrated by the behavior of the manager because I would have mentioned her name in this review. She is the only reason there is one star on this rating. I deeply appreciate her willingness to communicate honestly and treat me with respect demonstrating great leadership especially after I just finished a 12 hour shift at work.

I went through the drive thru at about 10:30 pm on 1-22-25. I ordered a #3 combo and some tenders and 8, that is eight, as in the NUMBER 8, Blackened ranch sauces. The woman at the window acted like I was inconveniencing her by even having placed an order. She dropped my credit card when handing it back to me. I am, the sweetest, most patient person that most people who know me know. My own brother said years ago, there's laid back, and then there's you. I swear I saw a smug smile when she dropped it, and she didn't even acknowledge it or apologize, normally I probably wouldn't have been phased, but I had to dig around under my car to get my credit card with a BROKEN HAND! And she just had this look on her face when she dropped it like I deserve it. I know I look homeless but I own my own home and I have a really good job and paid for my meal with a prestigious credit card. I don't ask for much but to be treated with dignity and the same respect one would expect others to treat them with. I also only got 2 sauces. The only reason I would go back to this location would be to ask her why she thought it was okay to treat another human being the way she treated me. Maybe she has a hard home life, maybe the manager is a jerk, I would like to resolve this with her in an amicable way where I come out understanding why she acted as she did and she understands that I get that we all have our moments and a sincere apology would mean everything to me. I don't need free food or discounts, I can afford my own way. Just to be treated decently is all I ask, I have been desperate and destitute but never treated anyone with disdain as I felt she treated me. I can only imagine how painful her life must be to treat someone so poorly and I truly hope her life gets better. My hand really hurts from having to retrieve my credit card off the ground. Took a while with the cast.

Me and my coworker went through the drive thru last night and got the 3pc chicken for $5 and before we got off our 8hr shift we had diarrhea and now I’m still nauseous.

Let me start by saying that I have been patronizing the Popeyes in Hamden for decades. In the past two years or so, I have noticed the quality and taste of the food has declined tremendously. Well, today was the icing on the cake. Every single thing that I ordered was DISGUSTING! The fried chicken including the tenders as well as the biscuits were ROCK HARD, and reminiscent of improperly cooked or old food. The mashed potatoes and cole slaw had a weird taste. The manager attributed the slimey slaw to a new distributor. She is clueless and doesn't seem to notice the horrible quality of the food.

The old Popeyes crew was spicy, but they knew how to cook and serve up fresh food. POPEYES CORPORATE OFFICE, please increase oversight of this location or close it.
