We came for dinner and music. The music was great (but loud if where band is) food and service ok. If coming for experience worth it.

The food, drinks, and service is always excellent! Our always go to Hartford restaurant in Hartford!

Overall the food was delicious. The gumbo fries said they were good. The cheese grits were very cheesy and delicious. The only downside was the creole deviled eggs. All 4 members of our party found them to be tasteless except for the bacon. I would eat there again if I'm in the area.

I booked Black Eyed Sally's because I was going there with a guy from Louisiana and I thought it would appeal. I've loved it in the past and was l was looking forward to some fried oysters and jambalaya. We were seated promptly and waited on very quickly (5:15 reservation but we were early). I was disappointed not to see the fried oysters on the menu anymore, but I got my jambalaya and a beer and was happy and took some home. The sweet corn bread is amazing! My companion had the Pig Out, and we ordered fried green tomatoes since I'd never experienced them. He was delighted with his meal, except he'd expected, with the meal's title that it would have more food. Nonetheless, he declared himself satisfied at the end of the meal and I can report that he made “yummy” noises on several occasions. I couldn't believe how quickly we were able to eat and leave! Under an hour!

Good pre-game experience. Only problem was the order was delivered three times before they got the four meals correct as ordered. We had plenty of time do no issue. Servers were very nice.

Authentic Southern menu and cooking. Great ambiance. Framed paintings of blues singers from the 1920 to today line the dining room wall with other walls a collage of ads and memorabilia from bluesy dive bars. And Elvis. The music stage half of the space is more of the same plus white tablecloths. Well trained staff. You'd have to be in Chicago or Nashville to find anything like it. The fried chicken is unmatchable.

Service was slow and non existent. We had to beg our waitress for water. She never gave us sauce for the dried out meat. We won't be going back.

Thank goodness our waitress, T who saved the day. Otherwise, it would've been an even worse review. We haven't been in a few years, but everything has really gone downhill. The drinks were terrible & the food was mediocre at best. But our waitress was very attentive and kind and funny. She is the star of the show, but everything else, not so good.

Wish we could've stayed for the live music. Get the mac n cheese bites, and don't sleep on the caesar salad!

I really wanted to love this place but to be honest the food we ordered missed the mark. Both of us ordered the fried chicken lunches. The sides we got were Mac and cheese, collards for me and fries and mac and cheese for my husband Not a fan of the very processed tasting mac and cheese and the collards were almost pure salt. My husband liked the fries. The cornbread was good, but I've had better. The chicken was over brined and stringy, the meat was lacking flavor..Portion size was impressive. The service was adequate. Atmosphere very nice. I don't think we will make the over 30 minute ride back again, because the food was just not special enough.

I’ve been coming here for years, but today I brought my family for the first time. I parked in the back of the restaurant.

Imagine how pleased I was to walk out and find that my car had been towed.

How could that happen? The staff had nothing to say for me, either. $210 on a ticket for parking behind in the lot directly behind the restaurant.
